Base of the fall

Hazachora is a hill-stream waterfall that flows all year in the Baghaihat area of Sajek union, Rangamati, a short walk off the road climbing from Dighinala to Sajek Valley. No gate or fixed hours are published, so visit in daylight. One to two hours including the walk makes it an easy stop on the way to Sajek.
The fall lies in Sajek union of Baghaichhari upazila, Rangamati district, close to Baghaihat bazar. Although it is in Rangamati, it is reached from the Khagrachhari side, since the only road through this area is the Dighinala to Sajek route. The path down to the water starts from a roadside point known locally as Road No. 10.
Hazachora is also called Shuknachora. The local hill name, Chith Jurani Thangjhang, is usually translated as the waterfall that brings peace of mind. It became a regular stop only after Sajek Valley grew popular and traffic on the road increased, and most visitors call in on their way back from Sajek.
The path down is a short jhiri walk of about 15 minutes along a hill stream. The fall drops down a mossy rock face in a narrow cleft surrounded by bamboo and broadleaf trees, and a small, shallow pool collects at the bottom before the stream runs on through the forest.
Unlike many falls in the hill tracts, Hazachora keeps some flow all through the dry season, though the volume shrinks to a thin sheet in winter. The rock is slick in every season, and the path down has short steep sections and steps cut into the clay.
No entry fee has been recorded. The fall makes an easy stop of under an hour on the way up to Sajek or on the drive back down, so it fits neatly into a Sajek trip. Late monsoon gives the fullest curtain of water. Sajek trips are sometimes suspended after landslides, so check road conditions in Khagrachhari before setting out.
