Toiduchhara is a tall hill waterfall in Dighinala upazila, Khagrachhari, whose Tripura name means a gate of water; the smaller Thangzhang fall sits at the top of the hill beside it. Toiduchhara Waterfall is a tall hill fall in Dighinala upazila, Khagrachhari district, Bangladesh, in country settled by Tripura and Chakma communities. Less visited than nearby Sajek, it suits fit walkers on a full-day guided trip from Khagrachhari, best in the monsoon when landslide warnings allow.
The fall lies in the forested hills of Dighinala, reached by road from Khagrachhari town by bus, CNG or chander gari. It is counted among the district's best-known natural sights. Twisama Waterfall is in Merung union of the same upazila.
The name comes from the Tripura language: toidu means a water gate and chhara means a falling stream. A height of about 300 feet is often quoted, but other regional reports give lower figures for Khagrachhari's falls, so the number is not settled.
The water drops down a steep, stepped rock face in a narrow gully with forest on both sides. At the top of the hill to its right is a second fall, Thangzhang, whose stream feeds Toiduchhara. Seeing both means a steep climb between them.
The walk crosses hill country, jhum fields and bamboo forest. Official sources publish no trail directions and paths change year to year, so hire a local guide in Dighinala.
