Langlok Waterfall is a tall forest fall above the Sangu River in Tindu union, Thanchi upazila, Bandarban, Bangladesh, often described as one of the tallest in the country. It suits fit trekkers on a guided trip from Thanchi, and access depends on rules for remote Bandarban that have changed several times since 2022.
The fall is formed by the Langlok stream, which drains the Chimbuk range and joins the Sangu near Baghermukh Para, the nearest village. Langlok, also called Liluk, takes its name from a cave beside the stream where bats roost; langlok is the local word for bat.
Adventure groups who explored Tindu estimated about 390 feet, and that figure is still quoted. No official measurement exists. The water drops from the lip of a forested cliff in a long, narrow column, broken in places by ledges, into a rocky pool. The rocks at the bottom stay slick all year.
Reach Thanchi by jeep from Bandarban, or from Alikadam on the Alikadam to Thanchi road. A boat up the Sangu to Baghermukh Para takes about an hour and passes Boro Pathar, where the river runs between huge boulders; you can also walk from Tindu along the river. From the village the climb through dense forest takes about 50 minutes.
A local guide is required and handles boat hire and permissions; one travel guide puts a day guide at about Tk 800 to 1,000. Confirm current access rules in Thanchi before going. Mobile coverage stops beyond Thanchi, and villages have no grid electricity.
