Remakri Falls is a broad, stepped waterfall where the Remakri stream joins the Sangu River at Remakri village, in the far south of Thanchi upazila, Bandarban. There is no gate or fixed timetable, and any fee is unconfirmed. Trekkers usually go overnight from Thanchi, often combining it with Nafakhum.
Remakri Waterfall is a broad, stepped fall where the Remakri khal joins the Sangu River in Remakri union, Thanchi upazila, Bandarban, Bangladesh, about 118 km from Bandarban town. It suits trekkers on an overnight trip from Thanchi, usually combined with Nafakhum, and access has been restricted at times since 2022.
The Remakri khal, a tributary of the Sangu that gives the union its name, comes down from the south and spills over a wide shelf of rock into the main river. Remakri has long been the overnight stop for trekkers heading upstream to Nafakhum on the same khal.
Remakri is about volume, not height. The stream spreads across a series of broad rock steps, each only a few feet high, so the whole river seems to pour in a wide band into the Sangu. In the rains the steps vanish under one rushing sheet.
Take a bus or jeep from Bandarban to Thanchi, then an engine boat up the Sangu to Remakri Bazar. The ride passes Tindu and Boro Pathar, where huge boulders sit in the river. Boats may not leave Thanchi for Remakri after 3 pm. In the monsoon the river flows hard between rocks, so wear a life jacket and follow the boatman.
Remakri Bazar has simple guest houses with shared stilt rooms and a small restaurant. Nafakhum, where the khal drops about 25 to 30 feet, is two to three hours' walk upstream in winter; part of the way can be done by boat in the rains.
