BG591, Biman's weekly nonstop from Saidpur
Biman started the service in October 2021 and still has it to itself. BG591 runs once a week. Check-in at Saidpur is quick: Bangladeshi passengers show their National ID card and foreigners a passport. A foreign spouse travelling with you needs a passport while you use your NID; keep both at the counter with the booking reference.
The allowance is 20 kg checked and 7 kg carry-on. Beach clothes are light, but leave room for the trip home, when dried fish and pickles add weight quickly.
Changing in Dhaka when the nonstop won't work
Go through Dhaka. Air Astra, Novoair, US-Bangla and Biman all fly Saidpur to Dhaka, and the same four serve Cox's Bazar from the capital. Leave a generous gap, as separate tickets are not protected if the first flight runs late.
The new Cox's Bazar terminal and longer runway
You arrive at the new terminal building, which took over domestic flights at the end of September 2026. Taxis and hotel cars wait outside. The runway beside it now reaches 10,700 ft; it was extended first to 9,000 ft and then a further 1,700 ft out toward the sea.
The airport is close to town. Hotels on Kolatoli Road are about 15 minutes away, and most others cluster in the Hotel-Motel Zone near Laboni Beach.
Laboni, Kolatoli or Inani for your stay
Laboni is closest to town and its restaurants and markets. Kolatoli has several hotels along its road. Inani is the quiet choice, a large resort well south reached along Marine Drive with the sea on one side the whole way; for two or three nights it is more of a resort break, since every trip back to town takes time, and a short visit often works better from Kolatoli.
Dry winter months and the monsoon
November to February is the driest stretch, with under 60 mm of rain in a typical month, and it suits children on the sand. June to August brings the heaviest monsoon rain, so a trip then needs a flexible plan.
Himchari park and open-top buses on Marine Drive
Himchari National Park, just south of town, was set up in 1980 and has forest trails, grassland and waterfalls, easy to fit into a morning. Since January 2024, two open-top bus routes have left from Laboni Point and followed Marine Drive down to Sabrang in Teknaf, a relaxed way to see the coast without hiring a car.
