Abu Dhabi to Dhaka flight guide
Flights from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka run nonstop from Zayed International Airport (AUH) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) on several airlines: Etihad Airways, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and US-Bangla Airlines. The 3,618 km flight takes about 4 hours 50 minutes. Etihad carries many travellers connecting from Europe and North America, while the other three mostly carry Bangladeshis who work in the emirate.
Etihad flies EY382 on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, with a Boeing 787-9 in the afternoon (14:00, landing 20:50) in one schedule period and a 777-300ER at 22:00 landing before 05:00 in another. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi's Airbus A320 runs 3L063 daily at 13:55 and lands at 20:45. Biman uses a Boeing 737-800.
Watch the bags. Checked baggage is 30 kg on Etihad and Biman but 20 kg on Air Arabia Abu Dhabi, so the cheapest ticket is not always the cheapest trip once extra bags are added.
Clocks move forward two hours on the way, as Abu Dhabi keeps UTC+4 and Dhaka UTC+6. After landing, the Dhaka Elevated Expressway to Farmgate is the quickest way into the city.
Hazrat Shahjalal is in Kurmitola, roughly 17 km north of the old city. Changing a little money into taka in the arrivals hall saves trouble with drivers. If you are heading on by train, Airport railway station is just outside, and intercity services to Chattogram and Sylhet stop there.
The arrival terminal in Dhaka may change around the end of the year: Hazrat Shahjalal's third terminal has a soft opening planned for 16 December 2026, with full operations expected in March or April 2027. Check your airline's notice if you land after that date.

Prices & payment
On a trip just under five hours the main gains are space and connections. Etihad's Boeing 777-300ER holds about 360 seats and the 787-9 about 290, with twin aisles, against single-aisle cabins on Biman's 737-800 and Air Arabia Abu Dhabi's A320. If you are only flying this one sector, the bags and price usually matter more.
No. Drivers expect taka, and few will accept foreign cash at a fair rate. Withdraw from an airport ATM or exchange a small amount at a licensed booth in arrivals before you leave the terminal building. Keep some smaller notes for the expressway toll and tips.
General
Not if both flights are on one Etihad ticket. Your luggage is checked through to DAC and you stay airside at Zayed International, where every airline now uses Terminal A. Bags only need collecting when the two flights are booked separately or with unconnected airlines.
US-Bangla includes 30 kg in the hold and 7 kg in the cabin, the same as Etihad and Biman. Only Air Arabia Abu Dhabi sits lower, at 20 kg. For workers going home with a year's gifts, three of the airlines offer the larger allowance.
Getting there
Etihad's 787-9 has a 28-seat Business Studio cabin laid out 1-2-1, so every seat has its own aisle access. Biman's Boeing 737-800 has 12 business seats at the front. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi's A320 is economy only, with 168 seats. Check the aircraft on an Etihad booking, since it also flies the 777-300ER here.
No. Air Arabia Abu Dhabi is a separate company, a joint venture of Etihad and the Sharjah-based Air Arabia, flying from Zayed International since July 2020. Check the departure airport on your booking carefully; a ticket from Sharjah means a different airport in another emirate, a long drive from Abu Dhabi.
Use the Dhaka Elevated Expressway from near the airport down to Farmgate, which skips the Airport Road jams, and continue on surface roads south to Motijheel or the old city. The drive is long at rush hour, so a late-night arrival is often the quickest time to cross town.
Uttara, directly north of the airport, keeps the first drive short when you only want a night's rest. The city itself lies south of the terminals, so if your work or family is there, compare the hotel's distance from them against the cost of crossing town twice.
Timing & weather
Bangladesh is two hours ahead of the Emirates throughout the year. Take your departure time, add the flying time of about 4 hours 50 minutes, then add two more hours for the local clock in Dhaka, and give that time to whoever is collecting you.
The run-up to Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, when workers on leave head home to their families. All the airlines fill quickly in those weeks, and waiting for a last-minute deal rarely pays off. Booking when your leave dates are fixed is the safest approach.
