Flying from Bangkok to Dhaka

In short

Flights from Bangkok to Dhaka run nonstop from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in about 2 hours 35 minutes, covering 1,568 km. Thai Airways International, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines fly it. The cabin is usually full of Bangladeshis heading home after hospital appointments or a family holiday, with a few travellers connecting from East Asia.

Thai flies twice a day. TG321 leaves in mid-morning, around 10:35 to 10:55, and lands in Dhaka just after noon local time. TG339 is the late flight, leaving at about 23:15 to 23:35 and arriving after midnight. Thai's aircraft vary from the Airbus A320 and A321neo to the Boeing 787-8 and Airbus A330-300. US-Bangla's BS218 departs daily at 14:40 and lands at 16:20. Biman uses a Boeing 737-800.

US-Bangla and Biman list 30 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg in the cabin. Thai's allowance is 30 kg on most of its listed flights and 23 kg on some, depending on the fare, so check your ticket. Weigh any shopping at the hotel before you leave; it all counts toward the allowance.

On the Bangkok side, the Airport Rail Link runs out to Suvarnabhumi from Phaya Thai and avoids the expressway traffic. Dhaka is one hour behind Bangkok.

Keep medical reports, scans and prescriptions from Thai hospitals in your hand luggage. They are easy to lose in checked bags, and your doctor at home will want them. If you land on the late Thai flight, book your ride into the city in advance.

Watch for a terminal change at the Dhaka end. The civil aviation minister said in September 2026 that Hazrat Shahjalal's third terminal will soft-open on 16 December 2026 and be fully operational in March or April 2027; Bangkok flights may move there after that.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Booking

Thai lists the planned type on the reservation and in its app. The 787-8 and A330-300 have two aisles and far more overhead space, while the A320 and A321neo are single-aisle. Thai can still swap types close to departure, so treat the listing as a strong guide, not a promise.
