Dhaka to Chattogram flight guide
Flights from Dhaka to Chattogram connect Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) with Shah Amanat International Airport (CGP) at Patenga in about 55 minutes. Several airlines fly the 229 km route nonstop: US-Bangla Airlines, Air Astra, NOVOAIR and Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Much of the traffic is business, for the port, shipping lines, garment exporters and the banks of Agrabad.
Every aircraft on the route is a turboprop. US-Bangla, Air Astra and NOVOAIR fly ATR 72s and Biman flies the Dash 8-400. All of them include 20 kg of checked baggage, so the departure time is what separates them.
US-Bangla has the deepest timetable, with five daily ATR 72-600 departures between 07:00 (BS101) and 15:10 (BS109). Air Astra leaves at 07:45, 10:40 and 16:45. NOVOAIR flies at 13:15 every day, with a 16:15 service four days a week, and Biman's BG121 goes on Monday mornings. For a day trip, the 07:00 and 07:45 departures put you in Agrabad before most offices open.
Shah Amanat sits on the north bank of the Karnaphuli, about 20 km from GEC Circle. Agrabad is the business address. GEC and Lalkhan Bazar have most of the larger hotels, and cheaper rooms gather around the railway station. If you fly back the same day with an hour to spare, Patenga beach is close to the terminal.
Weather matters at both ends. Monsoon downpours between June and September and winter fog at Dhaka in December and January can hold departures, so a midday flight is safer when a meeting time is fixed. Chattogram also has direct domestic links to Cox's Bazar, Sylhet and Jashore, useful if your trip continues.
It is a domestic flight. Bring your National ID card if you are Bangladeshi, or your passport if you are visiting from abroad.

Getting there
US-Bangla Airlines and Air Astra both fly the ATR 72-600, with 72 seats. NOVOAIR still uses the earlier ATR 72-500 with 68, and Biman's Dash 8-400 carries 74. The cabins are all economy, so the newer model brings a more modern interior with the same class of service.

General
For many trips, yes. The train covers the 321 km in about 4 hours 55 minutes and stops only once, at Dhaka Airport station, which suits travellers based in Uttara. It skips Wednesdays in this direction. Once you add the drive to Shahjalal, check-in and the ride in from Patenga, the gap with flying narrows.
Some links exist. Biman connects Chattogram with Cox's Bazar, Jashore and Sylhet, and US-Bangla flies from Chattogram to Jashore and Saidpur. That lets you build a round trip, for example Dhaka to Chattogram and then on to the beach, without doubling back through the capital.
Every airline on the route lists 20 kg in the hold and 7 kg as hand luggage on a standard economy ticket. Product samples or display material can tip you over that, and extra weight is charged when you check in, so weigh heavy cases before leaving for the airport.
No. The airport has one passenger building on two floors, divided into an international section and a domestic section, each with its own boarding bridge. Flights from Dhaka arrive on the domestic side, so you will not cross paths with immigration queues for overseas arrivals.

Stay & facilities
Two of the hotels under Where to stay are in the Agrabad Commercial Area itself, among the banks and shipping agents, one of them a mid-range choice. Staying there cuts out the cross-town traffic if your meetings are concentrated in the port business zone.
Two of the larger hotels under Where to stay do: the city's five-star option in Lalkhan Bazar, and a hotel in the Bulbul Center in the GEC area. Both are well placed for evening meetings and restaurants.
Yes. The boutique hotel under Where to stay is on O.R. Nizam Road, just off the circle, with fewer rooms and a quieter feel than the big chains. GEC is the main commercial hub of the city, so shops and restaurants are close at hand.
Prices & payment
Yes. The budget pick under Where to stay is on Station Road, a short walk from the platforms, handy if you plan to arrive by air and leave by train. Bear in mind the station is about 18.5 km north of the airport, so allow for that ride on arrival day.
Timing & weather
The best time to visit Chattogram is Nov to Feb. Dry and mild, highs 26–29°C.
