Dubai to Dhaka flight guide
Flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in Dhaka run nonstop on several airlines: Emirates, flydubai, US-Bangla Airlines and Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The 3,537 km trip takes about 4 hours 40 minutes, and most people on board are Bangladeshi workers and families in the UAE going home.
Emirates has the most choice. It runs three daily flights on the Boeing 777-300ER: EK582 leaves around 02:00 and lands at about 08:40, EK586 leaves at 10:30 and lands in the late afternoon, and EK584 leaves at 16:45 and reaches Dhaka about 23:20. flydubai adds two daily 737 MAX 8 services, FZ501 just after midnight and FZ523 at 13:55. US-Bangla flies BS342 daily at 02:25 on a Boeing 737-800, arriving in Dhaka the same morning.
Baggage is where the airlines differ most. US-Bangla and Biman list 30 kg of checked baggage with 7 kg in the cabin. Emirates shows 25 kg and flydubai 20 kg, but on both Dubai carriers the allowance depends on the fare family you buy, so a cheap ticket can carry less. If you are taking cartons of gifts home, compare the bag allowance before the fare.
Dubai International has three terminals and the airlines do not all share one. Emirates uses Terminal 3. flydubai uses Terminal 2 for most flights and Terminal 3 for a few, so read the terminal printed on the ticket. The Dubai Metro Red Line stops at Terminals 1 and 3.
Clocks jump two hours forward on the way. Dubai keeps UTC+4 and Dhaka UTC+6, so a 02:00 departure lands in Dhaka in the morning rush. After landing at Hazrat Shahjalal, the Dhaka Elevated Expressway runs 11.5 km from the airport area to Farmgate above the traffic, and the toll is usually worth paying when Airport Road is jammed.
Travel peaks before the two Eids and in the winter school holidays, when single-aisle jets on flydubai and US-Bangla fill first. Book early for those weeks, and choose a fare that allows date changes if your leave dates are not fixed.
Arrivals may change terminal soon. The civil aviation minister said in September 2026 that Hazrat Shahjalal's third terminal will have a soft opening on 16 December 2026, with full operations expected in March or April 2027. Until it opens, international flights from Dubai use the existing terminal buildings; check your airline's message close to the day if you travel in late December.

Getting there
Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines both list 30 kg in the hold plus 7 kg of hand luggage. Emirates shows 25 kg and flydubai 20 kg, and on both Dubai carriers the figure changes with the fare family, so a cheap ticket can mean a smaller allowance. Workers carrying gifts for relatives usually come out ahead on the Bangladeshi airlines.
It depends on the airline. Emirates works out of Terminal 3. flydubai uses Terminal 2 for most of its network and Terminal 3 for a few routes, so read the terminal printed on your ticket. For Biman or US-Bangla, the e-ticket and the airline's check-in message name the building to go to.
Heading east, aircraft ride the prevailing upper winds, so the scheduled time is roughly three-quarters of an hour shorter than the westbound trip. Expect about 4 hours 40 minutes on the way home. The westbound leg pushes into a headwind and is planned with more time.
The Emirates Boeing 777-300ER, laid out for about 360 passengers. Biman's 787-8 comes next at 271 seats. The flydubai 737 MAX 8 and the US-Bangla 737-800 are single-aisle jets with around 162 seats each, so they fill up sooner when demand jumps before the Eids.
Ask your driver to take the Dhaka Elevated Expressway, which climbs from the airport area and comes down at Farmgate after 11.5 km. It carries a toll, but when the road below is gridlocked it can save a long crawl into the middle of the city.
Yes. Terminal 3, where Emirates checks in, has its own stop on the Red Line, and so does Terminal 1. Travellers with large cartons may still prefer a taxi, because carrying heavy boxes through a metro carriage at rush hour is hard work.
Yes. All the carriers sell one-way seats on the route, so you can mix them, for example flying out on Emirates and home on US-Bangla for its larger bag allowance. Check that each leg's baggage rules suit what you are carrying, because the two tickets are separate contracts.
Booking
Two. Bangladesh runs on UTC+6 and the UAE on UTC+4, and neither changes its clocks in summer, so the gap stays the same all year. Add the time in the air to the two-hour jump and your arrival clock reads well over six hours later than the one you left behind at DXB.
General
Yes, on Biman. Besides Dhaka, the national airline links Dubai with Chattogram and Sylhet, which saves a domestic connection for families from those regions. The other airlines on this page fly only into Dhaka, so with them a home town outside the capital means a second flight or a road journey.
What's included
Not necessarily. flydubai sells several fare types, and the hold allowance is set by the fare, not the route. The 20 kg shown on this page is a typical figure, not a promise. Open the fare details before paying and add weight before you leave home if you need it.
