Mumbai to Dhaka flight guide
Flights from Mumbai to Dhaka run nonstop from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in about 3 hours, covering 1,888 km. Air India and IndiGo fly the route, both on the Airbus A320neo. Passengers are mostly Bangladeshis going home after hospital treatment, study or family visits, and Indian business travellers with work in Bangladesh.
Both flights leave in the morning. Air India's AI2183 departs daily at 07:20 and lands in Dhaka at 10:45 local time. IndiGo's 6E1115 leaves at 08:30 to 08:50 depending on the schedule period and arrives just after noon. Dhaka is half an hour ahead of India.
The cabins are much the same; the bag allowance is not. Air India includes 25 kg checked. IndiGo's figure depends on the fare, 15 kg on its cheaper tickets and 30 kg on some others, which matters for anyone taking shopping or medicines home.
Check which Mumbai airport your ticket names. In October 2026 airlines began moving part of the city's international flying from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the new Navi Mumbai airport, and the two are far apart by road. This route is listed from BOM, where international departures use Terminal 2 at Sahar, and the Aqua Line metro has a station by the terminal.
You land at Hazrat Shahjalal in Kurmitola, about 17 km north of central Dhaka. Bring a passport valid for six months.
Dhaka's new third terminal at Hazrat Shahjalal is due for a soft opening on 16 December 2026, and the minister expects full operations in March or April 2027. Flights from Mumbai use the existing international terminal until airlines are told to move.

Booking
NMI is Navi Mumbai, the second airport that began commercial service on 25 December 2025. If an airline moves the Dhaka departure there, the trip itself is unchanged, but the airport is about 35 km from Sahar, so plan the drive around the code printed on your booking.
General
Yes. IndiGo sells extra baggage allowance for a fee, and arranging it with the booking saves trouble at the airport counter. Compare the total with an Air India fare, which already carries the bigger allowance, before deciding.
Gulshan, usually paired with neighbouring Banani, mixes offices with homes and hosts most of the foreign embassies. Motijheel is the main central business district and banking hub. Pick the one where most of your meetings are, as crossing the city eats time.
Getting there
Air India, a Star Alliance member since 11 July 2014. The trip can go to its Maharaja Club or another member's programme. IndiGo works through codeshare partners such as Air France, British Airways, Qantas and Turkish Airlines instead.
Usually. The tolled expressway starts at Kawla near the airport, and since March 2024 it has had a ramp down to Karwan Bazar. It is a toll road, so tell the driver up front that you want it and agree who pays the toll.
On a separate domestic ticket you clear immigration and customs, collect your bag and walk across to the domestic terminal to check in afresh. Leave a generous buffer, because queues at passport control vary and a missed domestic flight on a separate booking is not the international airline's problem.
Not quite. IndiGo fits its A320neo with economy only, 186 seats in all. Air India flies the type either in a three-class layout or all-economy. Ask Air India at booking whether a front cabin is sold on your date if you want more room.
Timing & weather
India keeps a single time zone five and a half hours ahead of UTC, while Bangladesh sits a full six hours ahead. The result is an unusual thirty-minute gap, so if you land at what feels like the top of the hour in India, it is already half past in Dhaka.
Visa & documents
Bangladeshi citizens still need an Indian visa, but ordinary passport holders pay no visa fee. Patients coming back for follow-up treatment should apply early and carry the hospital's letter, since the category of visa has to match the purpose of the visit.
Yes. Officers look at the visa stamp or e-visa record, and an overstay can lead to fines and delays at the desk. If treatment runs longer than planned, use the online e-FRRO service, which handles visa matters for foreigners, before the visa runs out, not at the airport.
Stay & facilities
IndiGo runs a buy-on-board menu, and with no ovens on its aircraft the choice is hot drinks, heated or instant meals. Ask Air India what is included on your fare. On a three-hour trip that matters if you go straight to the airport from a hospital.
