Cox's Bazar to Dhaka flight guide
Flights from Cox's Bazar to Dhaka run nonstop from Cox's Bazar International Airport (CXB) to Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (DAC) in about 1 hour 5 minutes. US-Bangla Airlines, NOVOAIR, Air Astra and Biman Bangladesh Airlines fly the 311 km route, which mostly carries holidaymakers heading home from the beach.
Check-in moved at the end of September 2026. Since 28 September, domestic flights have used the airport's newly built international terminal, so older directions to the old building are out of date.
US-Bangla has five daily ATR 72-600 departures between 08:50 (BS142) and 15:45 (BS152). NOVOAIR's VQ922 leaves at 08:55 and Air Astra's 2A442 at 09:05. Biman flies the Dash 8-400 at 11:55 on six days, 14:20 and 17:10, the last of these the latest way out of Cox's Bazar on the stored schedule. If you want a last morning on the beach, the early afternoon flights are the ones to book.
All the airlines allow 20 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg in the cabin, enough room for a few packets of dried fish from the market. Bangladeshi passengers show their National ID card at the counter and foreign visitors their passport.
Return seats run short on the last day of long holidays, especially after the December break and the Eids. Book the return when you book the outward flight if your dates fall then.
You land at the domestic side of Hazrat Shahjalal in Kurmitola. Uttara is the nearest neighbourhood if you are staying in the north of the city; for anywhere further south, allow for Airport Road traffic.

Getting there
The new international terminal. Domestic departures moved there on 28 September 2026, so tell your CNG or hotel driver to head for the new building. Give yourself a few spare minutes on the first visit in case the driver needs to ask the way.
Put shutki in the checked bag, not the cabin, and seal it in several layers of thick plastic with a hard box around it to keep the smell in. The hold allowance is 20 kg on all the airlines, so weigh the bag at your hotel before leaving for the airport.
Use the Dhaka Elevated Expressway. Its first section runs 11.5 km from the airport area to Farmgate, and the southbound entry is at Kawla, close to the terminal. A toll applies, but at busy hours it is far quicker than the road beneath.
Air Astra flies between the two, and also links Cox's Bazar with Chattogram. Biman connects the beach with Saidpur in the north. Check these before booking a return via Dhaka, as a direct sector saves both time and a change of terminal.
NOVOAIR, which flies the ATR 72-500 with 68 seats. US-Bangla and Air Astra have the ATR 72-600 with 72 seats, and Biman the 74-seat Dash 8-400. All the planes are propeller aircraft with economy cabins.
General
Yes, on certain airlines. NOVOAIR links Cox's Bazar with both Jashore and Rajshahi, and US-Bangla also serves Jashore. These direct sectors save families from the west a connection in the capital at the end of a beach holiday.
No. The international declaration made in October 2025 was suspended on 24 October, before a single overseas service took off, because no airline came forward. Every departure from Cox's Bazar is domestic for now.
For travellers with time, yes. The train covers 551 km in about 480 minutes, calling at Chattogram and Dhaka Airport station before Kamalapur, and has run since 1 December 2023. The northbound service does not operate on Tuesdays, so plan your last beach day around that.
The airport was extended to 10,700 ft, partly out over the sea, so that wide-body jets could one day land there. Today only domestic turboprops use it, and they need a fraction of that length.
For a night before an onward flight, yes, because it is the neighbourhood closest to the airport and spares you the cross-city drive. If your plans are in Gulshan, Motijheel or Old Dhaka, the expressway or a longer taxi ride will be needed.
