Shah Amanat stands in Patenga on the north bank of the Karnaphuli, about 20 km from GEC Circle. It is a compact airport: one terminal of about 220,000 sq ft, split into international and domestic sections, and a single 2,940 m runway long enough for wide-body jets. The parking area in front holds 400 cars, so agree a meeting point outside international arrivals before you board.
The raised expressway from Patenga to Lalkhan Bazar, opened to traffic in 2024, has made the drive into the city far quicker than the old route past the port. Chattogram railway station is about 18.5 km away for anyone continuing by train. Chattogram is three hours ahead of Doha.
