Mumbai to Phuket flight guide
Mumbai to Phuket is a nonstop flight of about 4 hours 15 minutes and 3,004 km from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM) to Phuket International Airport (HKT). Akasa Air, IndiGo and Thai VietJet Air share the route, so Mumbai travellers can reach Thailand's biggest island without changing in Bangkok.
All the airlines are low-cost. The base fare gives you a seat and a cabin bag; checked luggage, seat selection and meals cost extra. Compare prices with a checked bag included, and add it online when booking, which costs less than at the airport.
International departures use Terminal 2 in Sahar, Andheri East. Andheri East is also the suburban railway station for the international terminal, and BEST bus 308 connects them. Metered taxis, auto-rickshaws from the suburbs, and app cabs (Ola, Uber, Rapido) all reach the terminal. If you are connecting from a domestic flight at Terminal 1, a free inter-terminal shuttle runs between the two.
From farther away, the airport's air-conditioned coaches run from Thane, the Bandra Kurla Complex, Navi Mumbai and Colaba, which saves a long taxi fare from the south of the city.
Leave a wide margin for traffic on the Western Express Highway, especially in the evening rush and during the June to September monsoon.
HKT sits at the north end of the island. Most beach hotels are far to the south: Patong, Kata and Karon are about an hour away by taxi or minivan.
Airports of Thailand lists the cheaper options. The Airport Bus Express leaves for Patong Beach via Thalang and Kathu between 8 am and 8 pm. The airport bus to Phuket Town runs hourly from 8:15 am to 8:15 pm from in front of the arrivals exit, calling at Central and the old bus station. The Phuket Smart Bus serves Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai, and shared public vans stop only at the main beaches of Patong, Kata and Karon. Car hire desks are on the first floor.
Thailand asks for an online arrival record and, for some passports, a visa arranged in advance.
Every non-Thai national must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at tdac.immigration.go.th, within the three days before arrival. It replaced the paper TM6 card on 1 May 2025, and Thai embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it. It is not a visa. Visa rules for Indian and other passports change from time to time; check our Thailand visa page and the official Thai e-Visa site before you travel.
Thailand is one hour 30 minutes ahead of India. A late-night departure from Mumbai arrives in Phuket in the early morning, often before hotel check-in, so consider booking the room from the night before.
The Andaman coast is driest from about November to April. From May to October the south-west monsoon brings rain and rough seas, and some island boat trips run less often, but hotel prices drop.
Domestic flights link Phuket with Bangkok, Chiang Mai and other Thai cities, and ferries run to Phi Phi and Krabi. From Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi, there are flights across Asia, including those on our Bangkok to Dhaka flights page. Mumbai also has flights to Bangladesh, listed on the Mumbai to Dhaka flights page.
Book early for Diwali, Christmas and New Year, when many Mumbai families head to Thailand.
The return flight lands at Terminal 2. Since 1 October 2025, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders arriving in India file an e-Arrival Card, up to 72 hours before landing, on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or in the Su-Swagatam app; Indian citizens should check the current rule on the Bureau of Immigration site. Allow an hour for the drive from Phuket's beaches to HKT, and the Airport Bus Express from Patong stops running at 6:30 pm.

About 4 hours 15 minutes in the air. The two airports are 3,004 km apart in a straight line; actual times vary a little by airline, aircraft and wind.
Separate international and domestic terminals, side by side. International flights such as this one use the international side, so allow time for immigration on arrival.
Phuket International Airport is at the northern end of the island, so the west-coast beaches are a fair drive away: allow around an hour to Patong or Kata by taxi or minivan, more in traffic. The Phuket Smart Bus runs from the airport down the west coast beaches.
Terminal 2 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport handles international flights. Your booking shows the terminal; check it again on the day.
Terminal 2 in Sahar, Andheri East, which handles Mumbai's international flights. The nearest suburban rail station is Andheri East.
General
The clock moves one hour and 30 minutes forward on landing in Thailand (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
What's included
It depends on the airline. Akasa Air, IndiGo and Thai VietJet Air are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book.

Prices & payment
Take the Airport Bus Express, which runs to Patong via Thalang and Kathu between 8 am and 8 pm, or a shared public van to Patong, Kata or Karon.
