Flying from Riyadh to Bangkok

In short

Saudia and Riyadh Air fly nonstop from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) in Riyadh to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok. The 5,771 km flight takes about 7 hours 45 minutes. It gives Riyadh's residents a direct holiday route to Thailand and links the Saudi capital with Southeast Asia for business travellers.

Saudia and Riyadh Air include bags, plus a Phuket option

Saudia and Riyadh Air both include checked baggage and meals in economy. The allowance depends on the fare and appears on the booking. Saudia also flies from Riyadh to Phuket, worth checking if your trip is a beach holiday.

Check your terminal at King Khalid after the 2026 change

The airport reorganised its terminals in 2026: Terminals 1 and 2 serve international flights of the Saudi national carriers, Terminals 3 and 4 their domestic flights, and Terminal 5 foreign airlines' international flights. Confirm the terminal on your booking before you set off.

The Riyadh Metro Yellow Line reaches the airport, with stations at Terminal 1, at Terminals 3 and 4, and at Terminal 5. It avoids the traffic on the roads north from the city centre, about 35 km away. Residents leaving the kingdom need a valid exit and re-entry visa.

TDAC and Saudi citizens' 30-day exemption

Every foreign passenger completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) on tdac.immigration.go.th before landing. It is free and opens three days before arrival.

Saudi citizens are on Thailand's 30-day visa-exemption list, introduced on 15 September 2026 to replace the 60-day scheme. Expatriates living in Riyadh should check the category for their own passport on the Thai e-Visa portal or on our Thailand visa page.

Getting into Bangkok from Suvarnabhumi

Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and meets the BTS Skytrain; Makkasan links to the MRT Blue Line. Metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals.

The airport's public transport centre has cheaper options. The S1 bus runs to Sanam Luang near the Grand Palace between 06:00 and 17:00 for 60 baht, bus 389 goes to Pattaya from Exit 8 on the first floor between 10:00 and 18:00 for 130 baht, and minibus 555 runs to Don Mueang for up to 60 baht.

If your aircraft parks at SAT-1, the satellite concourse, an automated train carries you through a tunnel of about one kilometre to the main terminal in about three minutes.

Dhaka via Bangkok or nonstop from Riyadh

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). Riyadh also has its own nonstop flights to Bangladesh: see Riyadh to Dhaka flights.
