Riyadh to Phuket flight guide
Riyadh to Phuket is a 5,773 km nonstop Saudia flight of about 7 hours 45 minutes from King Khalid International Airport (RUH) to Phuket International Airport (HKT). It is the direct holiday route from the Saudi capital to Thailand's largest island.
Saudia is the only airline flying it nonstop. Economy fares normally include a checked bag, meals and drinks,. On a flight of almost eight hours, those inclusions make the fare good value compared with low-cost one-stop options.
The airport is about 35 km north of central Riyadh. The Riyadh Metro Yellow Line, opened to passengers on 1 December 2024, serves the airport terminals, giving a traffic-free route from the King Abdullah Financial District and connecting lines. Taxis and ride-hailing cars are the alternative, especially late at night.
Phuket International Airport is at the north end of the island, about an hour by road from Patong, Kata and Karon.
Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express to Patong Beach via Thalang and Kathu from 8 am to 8 pm, the hourly airport bus to Phuket Town from 8:15 am to 8:15 pm, the Phuket Smart Bus from beside the domestic terminal to Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai, and shared vans to Patong, Kata and Karon. Car hire desks are on the first floor. You can book an airport shuttle in advance for door-to-door service.
For questions before you fly, the Airports of Thailand call centre is on 1722. If you prefer to drive, the island's main road runs south from the airport through Thalang towards Phuket Town, with the turn-off for Patong at Kathu, the same route the Airport Bus Express follows.
Every non-Thai national must file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th within the three days before arrival. It replaced the paper TM6 card on 1 May 2025. Royal Thai Embassy guidance says arrivals without it will not be processed, and it can be completed before a visa is issued. The TDAC is not a visa; our Thailand visa page explains the rule for your passport.
Thailand is four hours ahead of Saudi Arabia all year. An overnight departure from Riyadh lands in Phuket in the late morning or afternoon, local time.
November to April is Phuket's dry season, with the calmest seas for trips to Phang Nga Bay and Phi Phi. The Saudi summer holidays fall in Phuket's rainy season, from about May to October, when prices are lower and showers usually pass quickly.
Where you stay decides the airport transfer. Patong is the busiest beach, with the Airport Bus Express running straight there via Kathu. Kata, Karon and Rawai in the south are served by the Smart Bus and shared vans, and are the longest drive from the airport. Phuket Town, inland on the east side, has its own hourly airport bus and is the base for day trips to Phang Nga Bay.
Speedboats and ferries link Phuket with Phi Phi and Krabi, and domestic flights reach Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi has flights across Asia, such as those on our Bangkok to Dhaka flights page, and Riyadh's own routes include Riyadh to Dhaka flights.
File the TDAC within the three-day window, keep the confirmation on your phone and note your hotel address. If you land after 8 pm, the airport buses have finished, so arrange a car in advance.
