Phuket to Riyadh flight guide
Phuket to Riyadh is a nonstop Saudia flight of about 7 hours 45 minutes and 5,773 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to King Khalid International Airport (RUH). It connects Thailand's beach capital with the Saudi capital, a direct route home for Riyadh residents after a Thai holiday.
Saudia is the only carrier on the route. It is full-service, so a checked bag, meals and drinks are normally included in economy,. That makes the fare simple to compare with one-stop routings through Gulf hubs.
HKT is at the north end of the island. From Patong, Kata or Karon, allow about an hour by taxi. Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express from Patong via Kathu, with departures from Patong from 6 am to 6:30 pm, and an hourly airport bus from Phuket Town's old bus station between 9:15 am and 9:15 pm. The Smart Bus covers the west-coast beaches.
The international terminal is beside the domestic building. For a long-haul flight, arrive about three hours early to drop bags and clear Thai emigration. Rental cars are returned on the first floor.
King Khalid International Airport is about 35 km north of central Riyadh. The Riyadh Metro's Yellow Line, which opened to passengers on 1 December 2024, serves the airport terminals and connects with the rest of the network for the city centre and the King Abdullah Financial District. Taxis and ride-hailing cars wait outside arrivals.
Residents return on their residence permits. For visitors, the rules depend on passport and purpose of travel. Check our Saudi Arabia visa page and the official Saudi visa platform before booking.
Riyadh is four hours behind Thailand (UTC+3 against UTC+7), with no daylight saving at either end. An evening flight from Phuket reaches Riyadh around midnight, local time.
Phuket's dry season runs from about November to April. Riyadh's mild season is roughly November to February; from May to September daytime temperatures are extreme. Ramadan, Eid and the Saudi school holidays are the busiest periods on the route.
Choose seats early on a sector this long, and keep essentials in your hand luggage. With Saudia's checked allowance included, you can bring back Thai shopping, though it pays to weigh bags at the hotel.
If you rely on the airport bus to reach HKT, note that the last Airport Bus Express leaves Patong at 6:30 pm; late flights need a taxi.
On the outbound from Riyadh, the Yellow Line metro is a traffic-free way to the airport. Before landing in Phuket, non-Thai nationals file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th within three days of arrival; Thai embassy guidance says it can be filed before a visa is issued. At HKT, the Airport Bus Express to Patong runs from 8 am to 8 pm, and the hourly airport bus to Phuket Town from 8:15 am to 8:15 pm.
Riyadh's metro connects the airport with the King Abdullah Financial District and the rest of the network, which helps if you are heading home to the city centre after the flight. Taxis and ride-hailing cars wait at arrivals around the clock.
Saudia connects Riyadh with cities across the Kingdom and abroad. Our Dhaka to Riyadh flights page covers one South Asian link, and the Dhaka to Bangkok flights page shows the main route into Thailand from that side.
