Sylhet to Dubai flight guide
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the only airline flying nonstop from Osmani International Airport in Sylhet (ZYL) to Dubai International Airport (DXB). The 3,664 km flight takes about 5 hours 15 minutes and spares Sylhet passengers the trip to Dhaka for an international departure. Many on board are workers returning to jobs in the Emirates.
BG247 runs once a week. Biman links Dubai, Sylhet and Dhaka in one sequence, so the aircraft may begin or end its trip in the capital, and your ticket may show Dhaka on the same flight number. If your booking starts at Osmani, you board there and fly straight to Dubai; check that the boarding pass shows ZYL as your origin.
The nonstop saves a domestic flight, the walk between Dhaka's separate domestic and international terminals and the risk of a missed connection. Routing through Dhaka makes sense only when the direct flight is full or you want a different airline from the capital.
Carry a passport with at least six months' validity, your UAE residence or employment visa and any emigration clearance your job requires from Bangladeshi authorities. Check-in staff look at all three before printing a boarding pass, so keep printed copies in case your phone dies in the queue.
The allowance is 30 kg checked and 7 kg in the cabin. Check current UAE customs rules before packing home-cooked food, since some items are restricted and can be confiscated. Sealed, labelled packets travel best, in the hold bag; liquid limits at security apply to pickles and sauces in the cabin bag.
Dubai International uses three terminals. Emirates has Terminal 3, Terminal 1 takes most foreign airlines, and Terminal 2 handles many Gulf and South Asian routes and low-cost carriers. Your ticket or the arrivals page will confirm Biman's terminal.
That matters because the Red Line metro has stations at Terminals 1 and 3, opening off the arrivals halls, a cheap way into Deira and Bur Dubai for light travellers. Terminal 2 has no station; the nearest is a Green Line stop near the Airport Free Zone, a short taxi or bus ride away. DXB sits less than 5 km east of the city centre, and hotels in Deira and Al Garhoud keep a late taxi ride short.
Biman also flies from Osmani to Sharjah, a one-terminal airport about 15 km from central Dubai, though the road between the two cities can take up to two hours at rush hour. Workers whose company bus collects from DXB should clear the change with their employer first.
From Sylhet, Biman's network also includes Doha, Jeddah and Madinah, and SalamAir serves Muscat. Most other Gulf cities still mean connecting in Dhaka.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates direct flights from Sylhet (ZYL) to Dubai (DXB). The flight takes about 5h 15m.

Booking
Biman runs a service that links Dubai, Sylhet and Dhaka in one sequence, so the aircraft may begin or end its trip in the capital. If your ticket starts at Osmani, you board there and fly straight to Dubai. Make sure the boarding pass shows ZYL as your origin.
General
Dubai International uses three terminals. Emirates has Terminal 3, Terminal 1 takes most foreign airlines, and Terminal 2 handles many Gulf and South Asian routes and low-cost carriers. Your ticket or the airport's arrivals page will confirm Biman's terminal; checking it matters because the metro only serves two of them.
Not directly. The Red Line has stations at Terminals 1 and 3, opening off the arrivals halls, but Terminal 2 has no station of its own. From Terminal 2 the closest rail link is a Green Line station near the Airport Free Zone, reached by a short taxi or bus ride, so many arrivals simply take a taxi.
Dubai is 2 hours behind Sylhet, and the gap never changes because neither country uses daylight saving. So a departure from Osmani reaches Dubai only about three hours later on the local clock. A same-day shift is possible on paper, but agree it with your employer and allow for the immigration queue and the ride to your accommodation.
The nonstop saves a domestic flight and the walk between Dhaka's separate domestic and international terminals, along with the risk of a missed connection. Routing through Dhaka can make sense only when the direct flight is full or when you want a different airline from the capital.
DXB sits less than 5 km east of the city centre. Deira and Al Garhoud border the airport, so a hotel there keeps a late taxi ride short and leaves the metro within reach the next morning if you arrived at Terminal 1 or 3.
Timing & weather
Often, yes. Biman also flies from Osmani to Sharjah, a one-terminal airport about 15 km from central Dubai. The catch is the road between the two cities, which at rush hour can take up to two hours. Workers whose company bus collects from DXB should clear the change with their employer first.
Stay & facilities
Check the current UAE customs rules before packing, since some foods are restricted and officers can confiscate items on arrival. Sealed, labelled packets travel best. Put food in the 30 kg hold bag rather than the 7 kg cabin bag, where liquid limits at security also apply to pickles and sauces.
Visa & documents
Bring your passport, the residence or employment visa, and, if your job requires it, the emigration clearance issued by Bangladeshi authorities. Check-in staff look at all three before printing a boarding pass. Keep printed copies as backup in case your phone battery dies in the queue.
Getting there
Besides Dubai, Biman's network from Sylhet includes Sharjah and Doha, plus Jeddah and Medina for pilgrims. For Muscat, the airport's airline list shows SalamAir. Most other Gulf destinations still mean connecting in Dhaka.
