About 424 km. It is the miqat for anyone travelling from Madinah, so coaches and cars stop at the mosque there, Masjid ash-Shajarah, for pilgrims to put on ihram. If you go by train instead, ask your guide where and when to change, since the rail route has no stop there.
About 2 hours at speeds of up to 300 km/h. Trains leave from the Madinah station on King Abdulaziz Street, so allow time for a taxi from your hotel. Agency coaches take longer but drop you at the hotel door.
It opened in 2015, after test flights from 12 April and an official opening on 2 July that year. TAV Airports runs it, and it was the first commercial terminal in the Middle East and North Africa to earn LEED Gold for its green design.
Yes. Biman also runs a Chattogram to Jeddah nonstop, so you can arrive in Madinah, finish in Makkah and leave from Jeddah, which is the nearer airport at that point. Book it as one multi-city ticket to keep the baggage terms identical on both sectors.

Yes. Saudi Arabia runs three hours behind Bangladesh, on UTC+3 all year, and prayer times there follow Madinah's own sunrise and sunset. Most phones switch on their own once they find a local network, but check before the first prayer at the mosque.

Prices & payment
For older pilgrims, usually yes. Dar Al Taqwa looks straight onto the mosque, and the Mövenpick and Pullman Zamzam are a short walk away, so five daily walks stay manageable in the heat. Cheaper rooms further out save money but add time at every prayer.
Visa & documents
Since August 2025 the Nusuk Umrah service has accepted direct online applications from abroad, with electronic payment. Most families from Chattogram still go through an agency for the hotel and transport package, but booking the visa yourself is now possible.
The Umrah permit issued through Nusuk, the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah's platform. Download it so it can be shown even without signal, and keep your passport handy in case an official asks to see both together.
