Juneyao Air and Spring Airlines fly nonstop from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) to Phuket International Airport (HKT) in southern Thailand. The 3,534 km flight takes about 4 hours 55 minutes. It is a popular winter route for travellers from eastern China heading for the Andaman Sea.
Two Shanghai airlines, two fare styles
Juneyao Air includes a checked bag and a meal in its normal fares. Spring Airlines, the low-cost option, charges for checked bags, meals and seat selection. Both airlines are based in Shanghai, so schedules are built around Pudong.
Maglev or Metro Line 2 out to Pudong
Pudong is about 30 km east of the centre. The Maglev runs from Longyang Road in about eight minutes, and Metro Line 2 serves both terminals directly. Arrive about three hours before an international departure.

Phuket's airport is at the northern tip of the island, a fair distance from the main beaches. AOT lists the Airport Bus Express from the arrivals exit to Patong Beach from 08:00 to 20:00, and an hourly airport bus to Phuket Town from 08:15 to 20:15. The Phuket Smart Bus starts at the domestic terminal and runs south along the west coast through Kamala, Karon and Kata to Rawai. Public minivans serve Patong, Karon and Kata. Taxis need about an hour to Patong or Kata, more in traffic, and car rental desks are on the first floor.
An hour back and Bangkok for connections
Turn your watch back one hour on landing (China is UTC+8, Thailand UTC+7). For onward trips, domestic flights link Phuket with Bangkok, where you can connect across Asia, for example to South Asia from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights).

The clock moves one hour back on landing in Thailand (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
Fly to Bangkok and connect there. If your domestic flight lands at Don Mueang and you leave from Suvarnabhumi, allow time to cross the city.
