In short

Emirates, Vietnam Airlines, Thai VietJet Air and Thai AirAsia fly nonstop from Da Nang International Airport (DAD) to Bangkok. The 842 km flight takes about 1 hour 35 minutes. It lets visitors to Hoi An, Hue and Da Nang's beaches add a few days in Thailand without flying back through Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City.

Which Da Nang flights use BKK and which DMK

Emirates, Vietnam Airlines and Thai VietJet Air arrive at Suvarnabhumi (BKK); Thai AirAsia arrives at Don Mueang (DMK). Thai VietJet Air and Thai AirAsia charge for checked bags, meals and seat choice; the full-service airlines include them. Thai Airways International is due back on the route from 1 December 2026.

Terminal T2 and the taxi ride from Hoi An or Hue

The airport is only about 3 to 5 km from the city centre. International flights use Terminal T2, linked to the domestic T1 by a pedestrian walkway. Taxis are the usual way there; from Hoi An, 29 km away, allow about 45 minutes, and from Hue, 98 km, a good deal longer.

Visitors in Vietnam on an e-visa should leave within the stay it allows, up to 90 days,, using one of the border gates designated for e-visa holders.

TDAC and Thailand's 30-day exemption

Every foreign passenger files the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before landing. It is free on tdac.immigration.go.th and opens three days before arrival.

On 15 September 2026 Thailand replaced its 60-day exemption with a 30-day exemption for 60 countries and territories. Vietnam was not named in the announcement, so Vietnamese citizens, and travellers of other nationalities unsure of their status, should check the Thai e-Visa portal or our Thailand visa page.

S1 bus, Rail Link and taxis from Suvarnabhumi

Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and meets the BTS Skytrain; Makkasan links to the MRT Blue Line. Metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals, and the S1 bus runs to Sanam Luang for 60 baht between 06:00 and 17:00.

Don Mueang Gate 6 buses and the Red Line

The A1 bus runs from Don Mueang via BTS Chatuchak to Mo Chit 2, and the A2 via Chatuchak to Victory Monument; each costs 30 baht and leaves from Gate 6 of the international terminal. The SRT Red Line links the airport with Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal and the MRT Blue Line.

Catching the Dhaka flights after a Don Mueang landing

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). If you land at Don Mueang, minibus 555 crosses to Suvarnabhumi between 06:30 and 20:00 for up to 60 baht; allow time for the road and a new check-in.
