Flying from Yangon to Bangkok

In short

Various airlines fly nonstop from Yangon International Airport (RGN) to Bangkok: Myanmar Airways International, Myanmar National Airlines and Thai Airways International into Suvarnabhumi (BKK), and Thai AirAsia into Don Mueang (DMK). The 611 km flight takes about 1 hour 15 minutes. It is Myanmar's busiest link to Thailand, used by workers, students, traders, medical travellers and tourists.

Adding hold baggage for gifts on Thai AirAsia

The full-service airlines include a checked bag and a meal. Thai AirAsia sells the seat with a cabin bag only, so anyone carrying shopping or gifts back should add hold baggage at booking. On a flight this short, the price gap is often smaller than it looks once bags are included.

Mingaladon traffic and your eVisa's 28-day limit

Yangon International Airport is in Mingaladon, about 15 km north of downtown, and the drive can take 45 minutes or more. Leave early on weekday afternoons. Visitors who entered on a tourist eVisa should leave within the 28 days it allows; the visa is single entry, so a return trip to Myanmar needs a new application.

TDAC and the new 30-day visa exemption

Every non-Thai passenger completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) before landing. The form is free on tdac.immigration.go.th, opens three days before arrival and is required whether or not you hold a visa.

On 15 September 2026 Thailand replaced its 60-day visa exemption with a 30-day exemption for 60 countries and territories. Myanmar was not named in that announcement, so Myanmar citizens should check the Thai e-Visa portal for their category before buying a ticket. Our Thailand visa page explains the e-Visa process.

Rail Link, Skytrain or S1 bus from Suvarnabhumi

Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and connects with the BTS Skytrain; Makkasan has an MRT Blue Line link. Taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals, and the S1 bus runs to Sanam Luang in the old city for 60 baht between 06:00 and 17:00.

A1, A2 buses and the SRT from Don Mueang

Thai AirAsia passengers land at Don Mueang in the north. The A1 bus runs via BTS Chatuchak to Mo Chit 2 from 06:50 to 23:59, and the A2 via Chatuchak to Victory Monument from 05:00 to 22:00; each costs 30 baht from Gate 6 of the international terminal. The SRT Red Line runs from the airport to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal for the MRT Blue Line.

Many Myanmar travellers head for Pratunam and the garment markets, and Victory Monument on the A2 route is the nearest stop for them.

Minibus 555 between airports for the Dhaka flights

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). If you land at Don Mueang, minibus 555 links the two airports between 06:30 and 20:00 for up to 60 baht, but allow plenty of time for the road and a new check-in.
