Delhi to Phuket flight guide
Delhi to Phuket is a nonstop flight of 3,179 km and about 4 hours 30 minutes from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) to Phuket International Airport (HKT), operated by Air India and IndiGo. It saves north Indian travellers a change in Bangkok on the way to Thailand's largest island.
Air India is full-service: economy fares normally carry a checked bag and a meal. IndiGo is low-cost, with only a cabin bag in the basic fare. For a beach holiday with a suitcase, add IndiGo's bag at booking and compare the result with Air India's all-in price.
International flights use Terminal 3 at Indira Gandhi International. The Delhi Metro Airport Express reaches Terminal 3 from New Delhi railway station in about 20 minutes and is the most predictable way through the traffic. App cabs and taxis take longer at rush hour.
HKT is at the island's northern tip. The popular west-coast beaches are around an hour away by taxi or minivan.
Airports of Thailand gives the bus options. The Airport Bus Express to Patong Beach runs from 8 am to 8 pm via Thalang and Kathu. The airport bus to Phuket Town leaves every hour from 8:15 am to 8:15 pm, from in front of the arrival hall, and passes Central on the way to the old bus station. The Phuket Smart Bus, which starts beside the domestic terminal, runs down the coast to Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai. Public vans stop only at Patong, Kata and Karon. Car hire counters are on the first floor.
All non-Thai nationals must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at tdac.immigration.go.th within the three days before landing. It replaced the paper TM6 card on 1 May 2025. Thai embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it, and that it can be filed before a visa is granted. The TDAC is not a visa; see our Thailand visa page for the current rule for Indian and other passports.
Phuket's dry season, roughly November to April, has calm seas for boat trips to Phang Nga Bay and the Phi Phi islands. From May to October the monsoon brings rain and swell on the west coast, with lower hotel rates. For Delhi residents, the escape from summer heat in May and June is popular, despite the Thai rains.
Thailand is one hour 30 minutes ahead of India and keeps the same clock all year.
Night flights from Delhi often land in Phuket early in the morning, before hotel check-in. Book the room from the night before or ask for a luggage hold. File the TDAC the day before departure so the confirmation is on your phone at check-in.
Exchange a little cash for the airport taxi or bus, and use Grab or a pre-booked transfer for a fixed price.
Questions about getting from the airport can go to the Airports of Thailand call centre on 1722. Its website also lets you book an airport shuttle in advance, which is worth doing for a family with luggage or an arrival after the last bus.
Many visitors carry on from Phuket to Krabi, Phi Phi or Bangkok. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi has flights across Asia, including those on our Bangkok to Dhaka flights page. Delhi also has its own regional routes, such as New Delhi to Dhaka flights.
Book the return at the same time as the outbound over Diwali and the winter holidays, when seats back to Delhi go quickly.
Coming home, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders file India's e-Arrival Card before landing in Delhi, up to 72 hours ahead, on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or in the Su-Swagatam app.

Getting there
About 4 hours 30 minutes in the air. The two airports are 3,179 km apart in a straight line; actual times vary a little by airline, aircraft and wind.
Separate international and domestic terminals, side by side. International flights such as this one use the international side, so allow time for immigration on arrival.
Phuket International Airport is at the northern end of the island, so the west-coast beaches are a fair drive away: allow around an hour to Patong or Kata by taxi or minivan, more in traffic. The Phuket Smart Bus runs from the airport down the west coast beaches.
Most international flights at Indira Gandhi International use Terminal 3, but airlines can move between terminals. Check your booking for the terminal on the day.
The Airport Express metro line runs from Terminal 3 to New Delhi station, stopping at Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium. Prepaid taxis and app cabs leave from the arrivals forecourt.
Terminal 3, which handles most international flights at Indira Gandhi International. The Airport Express metro stops there.
From beside the domestic terminal, close to the arrivals exit. It runs to Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai.
General
