Flying from Delhi to Bangkok

In short

Multiple airlines fly nonstop from Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) in Delhi to Bangkok. Air India, IndiGo, SpiceJet and Thai Airways International land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), while Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air land at Don Mueang (DMK). The 2,948 km flight takes about 4 hours 10 minutes. Bangkok is the go-to short holiday for travellers from north India, and Delhi has more nonstop flights to Thailand than most Indian cities.

Terminal 3 and the Airport Express metro

Delhi's airport handled more than 79 million passengers in 2024–25, so allow plenty of time for check-in and security. Most international departures use Terminal 3, served by the Delhi Metro Airport Express line from New Delhi station in about 20 minutes. The rebuilt Terminal 1 reopened in 2025 for domestic flights, so check your terminal before setting off.

Night flights and what each fare includes

Air India runs its main hub at Delhi and includes a checked bag, as does Thai Airways International. IndiGo, SpiceJet, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air sell the seat and charge for checked bags, meals and seat choice. Night departures are common on the route, landing in Bangkok in the early morning.

After an overnight flight into Suvarnabhumi

Suvarnabhumi opened in September 2006 about 25 km east of the centre and has three parallel runways. The Airport Rail Link runs to Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes, where it meets the BTS Skytrain, and Makkasan connects to the MRT Blue Line. After an overnight flight, a metered taxi or Grab from arrivals is the easiest choice with bags. Coach 789 runs from the airport to Hua Hin for 294 baht.

Don Mueang lies north of the city. Its Terminal 1 handles international flights, the SRT Dark Red Line stops at the airport, and bus A1 runs to the BTS at Chatuchak for 30 baht.

Thailand's entry rules depend on nationality; see our Thailand visa page. Every foreign visitor completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours before landing.

Delhi flights to Dhaka or via Bangkok

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways all leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). Landing at Don Mueang means crossing the city and checking in again. Delhi also has its own flights: see New Delhi to Dhaka flights.

Clocks go forward 1 hour 30 minutes on landing in Thailand.
