Flying from Phuket to Delhi

In short

Phuket to Delhi is a nonstop flight of about 4 hours 30 minutes and 3,179 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL). Air India and IndiGo fly it, giving north Indian holidaymakers a direct way home from the Andaman coast and travellers a single flight from Thailand's beaches to India's capital.

Air India or IndiGo

The airlines price differently. Air India is a full-service carrier, so standard economy normally includes a checked bag and a meal. IndiGo is low-cost: the seat and a cabin bag are in the base fare, and checked luggage, seats and food are extras. Compare the total with your bags added before choosing.

Buses and taxis from Patong to HKT

Phuket's airport is at the northern end of the island, about an hour from Patong, Kata and Karon by road. Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express from Patong via Kathu and Thalang (departures from Patong 6 am to 6:30 pm), an hourly bus from Phuket Town's old bus station from 9:15 am to 9:15 pm, and the Phuket Smart Bus along the west-coast beaches. Late-evening departures need a taxi or pre-booked transfer.

International check-in is in the international terminal, which stands next to the domestic building. Rental car returns are on the first floor.

T3 arrivals and the 20-minute ride to New Delhi station

Most international flights at Indira Gandhi International use Terminal 3. The Delhi Metro Airport Express line runs from Terminal 3 to New Delhi railway station in about 20 minutes, a fast way past the city traffic, and prepaid taxis and app cabs wait outside arrivals.

If you are connecting to a domestic flight, check which terminal it leaves from; Delhi's domestic services are split across terminals, and a separate ticket means collecting bags and checking in again.

e-Arrival Card for foreigners and OCI holders

From 1 October 2025, foreign nationals and OCI cardholders arriving in India must file an e-Arrival Card. It can be submitted up to 72 hours before arrival on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or in the Su-Swagatam app. Foreign visitors also need the right visa for their passport, arranged before travel.

October to March suits both cities

Phuket's dry, calm season runs from about November to April. Delhi is cool and often smoggy in December and January, very hot from April to June, and wet in the July to September monsoon. October to March is the most comfortable window for combining the two.

School holidays in May and June and the Diwali and winter breaks are the busiest times for Delhi families flying to Thailand. On those dates, book the return when you book the outbound.

Air India's network from Delhi

Delhi is the main hub for Air India, with flights across India, the Gulf, Europe and North America. Our Dhaka to New Delhi flights page covers one regional link from DEL; for the route into Thailand from that region, see Dhaka to Bangkok flights.

Whatever comes next, you clear Indian immigration and customs at Delhi first. On separate tickets, plan at least three hours between flights.

TDAC for the return to Phuket

On the return, Air India and IndiGo both leave from Delhi's Terminal 3. Before landing in Phuket, every non-Thai national files the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online at tdac.immigration.go.th, within three days of arrival; Thai embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it. Phuket's airport buses run from 8 am to 8 pm, so check your landing time against them.
