Bangkok Airways runs the only nonstop flight from Hong Kong International Airport (HKG) to Samui International Airport (USM) on Koh Samui, the largest island in the Gulf of Thailand. The 2,048 km trip takes about 3 hours. Hong Kong travellers land within 20 minutes of the beaches at Chaweng and Bophut, without a change in Bangkok.
PG806, three times a week from Hong Kong
Bangkok Airways resumed Hong Kong to Samui on 1 July 2023 with three weekly flights, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. On the relaunch timetable PG806 left Hong Kong at 16:15 and landed on Samui at 18:35 local time. Schedules have changed since, so check your dates in the search above.
The airline is full-service on this route, so a checked bag and a meal are normally part of the economy fare. You can ask for a Muslim (halal) meal at booking or up to 24 hours before departure.
Airport Express and hotel shuttles to Chek Lap Kok
Hong Kong International Airport is on Chek Lap Kok, about 24 minutes from Hong Kong station in Central on the Airport Express, with a stop at Kowloon on the way. Free shuttle buses connect several hotels with Kowloon and Hong Kong stations. Aim to be at the airport two to three hours before an international departure.
Open-air terminals and immigration on Samui
Samui International Airport sits in the north-east corner of the island. Bangkok Airways built the airport and still runs it, and its open-sided terminals have separate halls for domestic and international passengers. Immigration is in the international hall. Chaweng and Bophut are 10 to 20 minutes away by taxi or hotel transfer. Lamai and the west coast take longer. An evening arrival means a dark drive, so a pre-booked hotel transfer is the simplest choice.
New 30-day visa exemption rules
Thailand introduced new visa exemption rules on 15 September 2026. Citizens of 60 countries and territories get up to 30 days without a visa, and some places have separate bilateral agreements with their own periods. The earlier 60-day exemption has ended. All foreign visitors also complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online. It is free, opens three days before your travel date and is filed on tdac.immigration.go.th. It does not replace a visa.
