Phuket to Mumbai flight guide
Phuket to Mumbai is a nonstop flight of about 4 hours 15 minutes and 3,004 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (BOM). Akasa Air, IndiGo and Thai VietJet Air fly it, all on low-cost fares, which makes it a practical way home for Mumbai holidaymakers and a direct link for anyone ending a Thai beach trip in western India.
Every carrier on the route sells a basic fare with a cabin bag only. Checked baggage, seats and meals are extras, so the price that matters is the one with your luggage added. Buying the bag online at booking is cheaper than paying at the Phuket counter, and on a return from a beach holiday most travellers need at least one checked piece.
HKT is at the northern tip of the island, a long way from the southern beaches. Allow about an hour from Patong, Kata or Karon by taxi, more in afternoon traffic.
Airports of Thailand lists several cheaper links. The Airport Bus Express runs between Patong Beach and the airport via Kathu, with departures from Patong between 6 am and 6:30 pm. The ordinary airport bus leaves Phuket Town's old bus station roughly hourly between 9:15 am and 9:15 pm, calling at Central. The Phuket Smart Bus works along the west-coast beaches from Rawai and Kata up to Kamala. For a late-night flight, a pre-booked car is the dependable choice.
International flights at Mumbai use Terminal 2 in Sahar, Andheri East. South Mumbai is 25 to 30 km away, an hour or more in traffic.
The airport lists several ways on. Metered taxis and app cabs (Ola, Uber and Rapido) pick up at both terminals. BEST bus 308 runs from Terminal 2 to Andheri East station on the Western suburban railway, and route 321 goes to Vile Parle East. The nearest metro stops are CSMIA T2, CSMIA T1, Marol Naka and Sahar Road. A free shuttle links Terminal 2 with the domestic Terminal 1, picking up from Level 1, Ground Transportation (P4), for passengers connecting to flights elsewhere in India.
For longer trips across the city, air-conditioned coaches link the airport with Thane, Andheri, the Bandra Kurla Complex, Navi Mumbai and Colaba. Auto-rickshaws wait at both terminals too, but they only work the suburbs, from Borivali down to Bandra and Sion, so they will not take you to South Mumbai.
Since 1 October 2025 all international travellers arriving in India have had to submit an e-Arrival Card. It can be filed up to 72 hours before arrival on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or through the Su-Swagatam app. You still need the right visa or OCI document for your nationality, which you should arrange before booking.
Leaving Thailand is simpler. Check in, pass security and Thai emigration on the international side of HKT, which sits next to the domestic terminal.
India is one hour 30 minutes behind Thailand (UTC+5:30 against UTC+7), with no daylight saving on either side. An evening departure from Phuket lands in Mumbai late the same night.
Phuket's dry season runs from about November to April, the busiest time for flights. Mumbai's monsoon peaks from June to September, when heavy rain can slow the road from the airport. Indian school holidays and Diwali in October or November push up fares in both directions.
Mumbai has flights all over India and the Gulf. Our Dhaka to Mumbai flights page covers a link between Mumbai and Bangladesh's capital, and the Dhaka to Bangkok flights page shows the main route into Thailand from that side.
