Kuala Lumpur to Krabi flight guide
Kuala Lumpur to Krabi is a nonstop flight of 667 km and about 1 hour 20 minutes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL) to Krabi International Airport (KBV), operated by AirAsia and Firefly. It is one of the quickest beach getaways from the Malaysian capital, landing close to Ao Nang, Railay and the islands of Phang Nga Bay.
AirAsia and Firefly sell basic fares with a cabin bag only. Checked bags, seats and food are extras. For a short break with hand luggage, those fares are good value; with dive gear or a suitcase, price the bag in before you compare.
KLIA is in Sepang, about 45 km south of the city. The KLIA Ekspres from KL Sentral runs every 20 minutes, takes about 28 minutes to Terminal 1 and three minutes more to Terminal 2, where AirAsia is based. The standard adult one-way fare is RM55. Between 5 October and 31 December 2026, groups of three or more pay RM40 each one-way, and a family package for two adults and two children starts at RM120; children under six ride free. Taxis and e-hailing cars are the alternative for early departures.
Krabi International Airport is east of Krabi Town. Ao Nang, the main beach resort, is roughly 40 minutes away by taxi or shared minivan. Longtail boats to Railay leave from Ao Nang beach; Railay has no road, so the boat is part of every transfer there.
Krabi Town is closer to the airport and is the base for ferries to Koh Lanta and Koh Phi Phi.
All non-Thai nationals, Malaysians included, must submit the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th within the three days before arrival. It replaced the paper TM6 card on 1 May 2025. Royal Thai Embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it, and it can be filed before a visa is issued. It is not a visa; our Thailand visa page covers who needs one.
Thailand is one hour behind Malaysia. A morning flight from KLIA lands in Krabi at almost the same clock time it left.
The Andaman coast is at its best from about November to April, with calm water for island-hopping and climbing at Railay. May to October is the monsoon season, with rain and rougher seas and some reduced boat schedules, but lower prices.
A Friday evening departure and a Sunday night return fit a weekend. File the TDAC on Wednesday or Thursday, within the three-day window. If you land late, book your transfer to Ao Nang in advance, and plan the boat to Railay for daylight.
Malaysian school holidays, Hari Raya and Chinese New Year are busy on this route, so book early for those dates.
If your flight leaves KLIA late, the KLIA Ekspres keeps running until about 1 am, stopping at all stations after 11 pm, and an extra late train from Terminal 2 to KL Sentral at 10:48 pm was added in January 2026. Arrivals back from Krabi after midnight are best handled by taxi or e-hailing car.
From Krabi, ferries reach Phi Phi, Lanta and Phuket, and domestic flights go to Bangkok. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi has many routes across Asia, including those on our Bangkok to Dhaka flights page. Kuala Lumpur's own routes include Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka flights.
Foreign visitors returning to Malaysia file the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card online within three days before arrival; Malaysian citizens do not. The KLIA Ekspres runs until about 1 am, stopping at all stations after 11 pm.

What's included
It depends on the airline. AirAsia and Firefly are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book.
Stay & facilities
Not in the basic fare. AirAsia and Firefly sell meals and drinks on board, and pre-ordering a meal online when you book gives the widest choice.
