Krabi to Kuala Lumpur flight guide
Krabi to Kuala Lumpur is a short nonstop flight of about 1 hour 20 minutes and 667 km from Krabi International Airport (KBV) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). AirAsia and Firefly fly it, both low-cost, linking Krabi's beaches with the Malaysian capital and KLIA's network.
Both airlines sell basic fares that include a cabin bag only. Checked luggage, seats and meals are extras, so add your bag at booking and compare the final prices. AirAsia uses KLIA Terminal 2.
The airport is east of Krabi Town. Ao Nang is roughly 40 minutes away by taxi or shared minivan. From Railay, take a longtail boat to Ao Nang beach first, and allow extra time, as the boats depend on tide and weather. From the islands, check the evening ferry times the day before.
KLIA is in Sepang, about 45 km south of Kuala Lumpur. The KLIA Ekspres runs to KL Sentral every 20 minutes, taking about 28 minutes from Terminal 1 and three minutes more from Terminal 2. The standard adult one-way fare is RM55. Until 31 December 2026, KLIA Ekspres also sells a Group Saver fare of RM40 per person one-way for three or more travellers, and a family package from RM120 one-way for two adults and two children, with children under six free. After 11 pm the train stops at all stations, and the last services leave around 1 am.
Taxis and e-hailing cars run from both terminals for door-to-door trips.
All foreign citizens entering Malaysia must submit the Malaysia Digital Arrival Card (MDAC) at imigresen-online.imi.gov.my within three days before arrival. Singapore citizens, diplomatic passport holders, Malaysian permanent residents and a few cross-border permit holders are exempt. Check the visa rule for your passport on our Malaysia visa page.
The exemption list is short and specific. Besides Singapore citizens, diplomatic and official passport holders and Malaysian permanent residents, it covers Long-Term Pass holders, Brunei GCI holders, members of the Brunei-Malaysia Frequent Traveller Facility, and holders of a Thailand Border Pass or an Indonesian cross-border travel document (PLB). Everyone else files the card, on the official immigration site, imigresen-online.imi.gov.my.
Malaysia is one hour ahead of Thailand (UTC+8 against UTC+7) all year. The flight lasts 80 minutes, but the clock jumps more than two hours.
Krabi is driest from about November to April. Kuala Lumpur is warm and humid year-round, with frequent afternoon storms.
KLIA is the base for AirAsia's long network across Asia and to Australia. On one ticket your bags go through; on separate tickets, collect them, clear immigration and check in again, allowing at least three hours. Our Dhaka to Kuala Lumpur flights page covers one busy South Asian link, and the Dhaka to Bangkok flights page shows the main way into Thailand from that region.
For a return trip, every non-Thai national files the Thailand Digital Arrival Card at tdac.immigration.go.th within three days before landing. Royal Thai Embassy guidance says arrivals without it will not be processed. AirAsia's flights back leave from Terminal 2, three minutes beyond Terminal 1 on the KLIA Ekspres.
File the MDAC a day or two before you fly. Keep the PIN or confirmation on your phone. Weigh your bags in Krabi before leaving the hotel to avoid excess charges at the counter.
