Scoot flies nonstop from Samui International Airport (USM) on Koh Samui to Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). The 1,008 km flight takes about 1 hour 45 minutes. For travellers ending a Gulf of Thailand holiday, it saves the domestic flight back to Bangkok, and it gives Singapore residents an easy weekend link to the island.
Scoot's Embraer E190-E2 service since May 2024
Scoot is the only airline on the route. It started flying to Koh Samui on 13 May 2024 with a daily service on the Embraer E190-E2, its new smaller jet, and planned a second daily flight from early June that year.
As a low-cost airline, Scoot includes only a cabin bag in the basic fare. Checked bags, seat choice and meals are paid extras, and buying them online when you book is cheaper than at the airport.
International hall at Bangkok Airways' Samui airport
Samui International Airport is in the north-east of the island, about 10 to 20 minutes from Chaweng and Bophut. Bangkok Airways built and runs the airport. Its open-air terminal has a separate hall for international departures, with passport control before the gate.
Terminal 1, the Skytrain and MRT into the city
Changi has four terminals linked by the free Skytrain, and Scoot has used Terminal 1 since 2019. To reach the city by MRT, take the train from Changi Airport station to Tanah Merah and change to the East West Line, or change at Expo for the Downtown Line. The first train runs at 05:31 (05:59 on Sundays and public holidays) and the last city-bound connection leaves at 23:18. MRT and buses accept contactless bank cards and EZ-Link.
Taxis wait at every terminal and take about 30 minutes to the city. Metered fares run from about S$25 to S$45, plus an airport surcharge of S$8 between 17:00 and midnight and S$6 at other times. A 50% midnight surcharge applies from midnight to 05:59.
The free SG Arrival Card
Every traveller entering Singapore must file the SG Arrival Card online within three days before arrival. It is free on the official ICA site. Visa rules depend on nationality; check our Singapore visa page.
One hour ahead in Singapore, and links from Dhaka
Singapore is one hour ahead of Thailand all year. Koh Samui has no flights to Dhaka, so travellers from South Asia normally reach the island through Bangkok (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights). Dhaka also has direct flights to Singapore: see Dhaka to Singapore flights.
