In short

Multiple airlines fly nonstop from Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU) in Kolkata to Bangkok. Bhutan Airlines, IndiGo, Thai Airways International and Thai VietJet Air land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK), and Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air at Don Mueang (DMK). The 1,636 km flight takes about 2 hours 35 minutes. For people in West Bengal and north-east India, Bangkok is the easiest beach and shopping break abroad.

Metro to the Dum Dum terminal

The airport is at Dum Dum, about 16 km from Dalhousie Square. Jai Hind metro station, on the Yellow and Orange Lines, serves the integrated terminal, which opened in 2013 and handles both domestic and international flights. Around 21.8 million passengers used the airport in 2024–25. IndiGo and Air India Express have bases there.

Bhutan Airlines A319s and the low-cost options

Thai Airways International and Bhutan Airlines include a checked bag. Bhutan Airlines flies a Paro, Kolkata and Bangkok service on Airbus A319s with 12 business seats. IndiGo, Thai VietJet Air, Thai AirAsia and Thai Lion Air price the seat alone, with bags and meals as extras. SpiceJet joins the route on 25 October 2026.

Rail Link and taxis from Suvarnabhumi

Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok, in Samut Prakan province. The Airport Rail Link runs to Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and meets the BTS Skytrain; Makkasan connects to the MRT Blue Line. Metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals. For the beach, coach 389 runs to Pattaya for 130 baht.

Don Mueang, in the north, is Bangkok's low-cost hub, with about 31.7 million passengers in 2025. The SRT Dark Red Line stops at the airport, and bus A4 goes to Khaosan Road and Sanam Luang for 50 baht. A Royal Thai Air Force golf course lies between its two runways, which you may spot on landing.

Thai entry rules depend on nationality; see our Thailand visa page. Every foreign visitor completes the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours before landing.

Dhaka flights from Bangkok or Kolkata

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). From Don Mueang, allow time to cross the city and check in again. Kolkata also has its own flights: see Kolkata to Dhaka flights.

Clocks go forward 1 hour 30 minutes on landing in Thailand.
