Flying from Muscat to Bangkok

In short

Oman Air and SalamAir fly nonstop from Muscat International Airport (MCT) to Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok. The 4,590 km flight takes about 6 hours 15 minutes, close to a full working day once airport time is counted. Oman's residents use it for short holidays in Thailand, and the airlines also connect Muscat with Phuket.

Oman Air versus SalamAir once bags are added

Oman Air, the national carrier, includes checked baggage and meals. SalamAir, the low-cost airline, sells the seat on its own and charges for bags, food and seat choice. Families flying in school holidays usually find the difference narrows once two or three bags are added.

Mwasalat bus A1 from Ruwi for 500 baisa

The airport is on Sultan Qaboos Road between Muscat and Seeb. Mwasalat's A1 bus runs from Ruwi and Al Mabilah to the airport about every 40 minutes for 500 baisa, stopping at the bus station on the ground floor outside the terminal. Taxis must use meters, and the Mwasalat taxi office in the arrivals hall can arrange a car for the return.

TDAC form and Oman's place on the visa-free list

File the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online before departure. It is free on tdac.immigration.go.th, opens three days before arrival and applies to every foreign national, visa or no visa.

Omani citizens are on Thailand's 30-day visa-exemption list, which took over from the 60-day scheme on 15 September 2026. Expatriate residents of Oman travel on their own passports, so they should check their nationality's category on the Thai e-Visa portal or on our Thailand visa page.

Suvarnabhumi to the city by train, taxi or Grab

Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link reaches Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and connects with the BTS Skytrain; Makkasan has an MRT Blue Line link. Metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals.

The airport's public transport centre runs buses for those on a budget. The S1 goes to Sanam Luang near the Grand Palace for 60 baht between 06:00 and 17:00, and bus 389 heads to Pattaya from Exit 8 on the first floor between 10:00 and 18:00 for 130 baht. Minibus 555 runs across to Don Mueang for up to 60 baht if a domestic low-cost flight leaves from there.

Wide-body aircraft from the Gulf can park at SAT-1, the satellite concourse. Arriving passengers ride an automated train through a tunnel of about a kilometre to the main terminal, a trip of about three minutes, before immigration.

Dhaka flights from Bangkok, or nonstop from Muscat

The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). Muscat also has its own direct flights to Bangladesh: see Muscat to Dhaka flights.
