Muscat to Phuket flight guide
Muscat to Phuket is a 4,594 km nonstop flight of about 6 hours 15 minutes from Muscat International Airport (MCT) to Phuket International Airport (HKT). Oman Air and SalamAir both fly it, giving Oman residents and Gulf travellers a direct path to Thailand's beaches.
Oman Air is a full-service airline: checked bags, meals and drinks are normally part of the economy fare. SalamAir, the low-cost carrier, sells a bare seat and charges for bags, meals and seat choice. On a six-hour flight, SalamAir's saving can shrink once you add a bag and a meal, so compare the full amounts.
Muscat International Airport is at Seeb, about 30 km west of Muttrah. Taxis and ride-hailing apps are the usual way out from the city. Oman Air uses Muscat as its hub, so passengers connecting from elsewhere on one ticket stay airside.
Before the flight, Muscat's terminal has duty free, restaurants and two lounges, Primeclass and Majan, plus free Wi-Fi. Currency exchange counters let you buy a little Thai baht for the first taxi in Phuket. E-gates at passport control speed things up for eligible travellers.
HKT is at the north end of Phuket, about an hour's drive from Patong, Kata and Karon.
Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express to Patong Beach via Thalang and Kathu from 8 am to 8 pm, an hourly airport bus to Phuket Town from 8:15 am to 8:15 pm, the Phuket Smart Bus from beside the domestic terminal to Kamala, Patong, Karon, Kata and Rawai, and shared public vans to Patong, Kata and Karon. Car rental counters are on the first floor, and you can pre-book an airport shuttle.
Overnight flights from the Gulf often land early in the morning. If you arrive before 8 am, the buses have not yet started, so a taxi or pre-booked transfer is the way to go.
All non-Thai nationals must file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) online at tdac.immigration.go.th within the three days before arrival. It replaced the paper TM6 card on 1 May 2025. Royal Thai Embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it, and that it can be filed even before a visa is issued. It is not a visa; whether you need one depends on your passport, explained on our Thailand visa page.
Phuket's dry, sunny season runs from about November to April, the busiest months for flights from the Gulf. May to October brings the south-west monsoon, with rain and rougher seas but lower hotel prices. Many Gulf residents travel during the summer school holidays to escape the heat, accepting Phuket's showers.
Book early for the Eid holidays, when demand from Oman and the wider Gulf peaks.
Ferries and speedboats link Phuket with Phi Phi and Krabi, and domestic flights reach Bangkok and Chiang Mai. Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi has many onward routes across Asia, including those on our Bangkok to Dhaka flights page. Muscat's own regional links are on pages such as Muscat to Dhaka flights.
File the TDAC within the three-day window, save the confirmation, and carry your hotel address in English or Thai for the taxi driver.

Getting there
About 6 hours 15 minutes in the air. The two airports are 4,594 km apart in a straight line; actual times vary a little by airline, aircraft and wind.
Separate international and domestic terminals, side by side. International flights such as this one use the international side, so allow time for immigration on arrival.
Phuket International Airport is at the northern end of the island, so the west-coast beaches are a fair drive away: allow around an hour to Patong or Kata by taxi or minivan, more in traffic. The Phuket Smart Bus runs from the airport down the west coast beaches.
Take a taxi or a transfer booked in advance. The airport buses start at 8 am and 8:15 am.
Yes. Every non-Thai national files it online at tdac.immigration.go.th within three days before landing.
Oman Air includes bags and meals; SalamAir sells a lower base fare with extras charged. Compare the total cost with what you need.
General
The clock moves three hours forward on landing in Thailand (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
Oman Air, the national airline, and SalamAir, the low-cost carrier, both fly to Bangkok and Phuket.
What's included
It depends on the airline. SalamAir is a low-cost carrier whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On SalamAir, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
