Bangkok to Muscat flight guide
Omani airlines fly nonstop from Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) in Bangkok to Muscat International Airport (MCT): Oman Air and SalamAir. The 4,590 km flight takes about 6 hours 15 minutes. It carries Gulf residents returning from holidays in Thailand, tourists heading for Oman's mountains and coast, and travellers connecting through Muscat to other Gulf cities.
Oman Air is the national full-service airline, with a checked bag and meals in the fare. SalamAir is Oman's low-cost carrier and charges separately for hold luggage, food and seat choice. On a flight of over six hours, those extras add up, so compare the final price with the bag and meal you actually want.
Both airlines fly from Suvarnabhumi, about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link runs from Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes, with an MRT Blue Line link at Makkasan, and metered taxis use the expressway. Allow time at the airport for long check-in queues on evening Gulf departures.
Some flights board at SAT-1, the satellite concourse with 28 gates linked to the main terminal by an automated train through a tunnel of about one kilometre. The ride takes about three minutes with the wait, but walking to the station and clearing the gate adds more.
Muscat International Airport sits on Sultan Qaboos Road between Muscat and Seeb, about 30 km west of Muttrah and the old town. Taxis leave from just outside the main terminal and must use their meters; the airport publishes a table of estimated fares to the main districts, and the Mwasalat taxi office in the public arrivals hall takes bookings.
The cheapest way into town is Mwasalat's route A1, which runs between Al Mabilah, the airport and Ruwi about every 40 minutes for 500 baisa. Buses leave from the bus station on the ground floor outside the terminal building. Ruwi is the business district and a short taxi ride from Muttrah Corniche.
Oman's visa rules depend on your nationality and the purpose of your trip. Residents returning to jobs need a valid residence card, and visitors should confirm current requirements with the Royal Oman Police or the nearest Omani embassy before booking.
Travellers from South Asia reach Suvarnabhumi on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways (see our Dhaka to Bangkok flights page), and the Muscat flights leave from the same airport. On separate tickets you still clear Thai immigration and check in again, which means permission to enter Thailand and a completed Thailand Digital Arrival Card. Dhaka also has its own flights to Muscat: see Dhaka to Muscat flights.

General
The clock moves three hours back from Thai time (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Muscat flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
Oman Air, the national airline, and SalamAir, the low-cost carrier, both fly to Bangkok and Phuket.
What's included
It depends on the airline. SalamAir is a low-cost carrier whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Visa & documents
They depend on your nationality and reason for travel. Residents need a valid residence card, and visitors should confirm the current visa requirements with the Royal Oman Police or an Omani embassy before booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On SalamAir, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
