Several airlines fly nonstop from Kansai International Airport (KIX) near Osaka to Bangkok. Japan Airlines, Peach, Thai Airways International and Thai VietJet Air land at Suvarnabhumi (BKK); Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air land at Don Mueang (DMK). The 4,159 km flight takes about 5 hours 40 minutes. It is a busy holiday route from the Kansai region and a handy start for longer trips through Southeast and South Asia.
Kansai stands on an artificial island in Osaka Bay, about 38 km south-west of Osaka Station. The Nankai rapi:t from Namba and the JR Haruka from Kyoto and Shin-Osaka reach Kansai Airport station next to Terminal 1. Peach flies from Terminal 2, the separate low-cost terminal, so allow time for the shuttle bus if you are flying with them. The airport handled about 34.1 million passengers in 2025.
Japan Airlines and Thai Airways International include a checked bag and a meal. Peach, Thai VietJet Air, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air sell the seat alone. If you are bringing back shopping from Japan on the return, factor the bag fee into a low-cost fare before booking.
Suvarnabhumi, about 25 km east of central Bangkok, opened in 2006 and has three parallel runways. Bus S1 runs to Sanam Luang for 60 baht during the day, and metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals.
Don Mueang, in the north, handles international flights at Terminal 1. The SRT Dark Red Line stops there, and buses A1 to A4 run into the city for 30 to 50 baht.
Thai entry rules depend on nationality; see our Thailand visa page. Every foreign visitor fills in the Thailand Digital Arrival Card within 72 hours before landing.
The Dhaka flights on Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways leave from Suvarnabhumi (see Bangkok to Dhaka flights). If you land at Don Mueang, Airports of Thailand runs a free shuttle bus to Suvarnabhumi for ticketed passengers.

Both. A number of airlines use Suvarnabhumi (BKK); two use Don Mueang (DMK). The airports are on opposite sides of the city, so check the code on your ticket.
Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok. The Airport Rail Link runs to Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes and meets the BTS Skytrain there; Makkasan station connects to the MRT Blue Line. Metered taxis and Grab wait outside arrivals. Don Mueang is north of the city. The SRT Dark Red Line stops at the airport and runs to Krung Thep Aphiwat Central Terminal (Bang Sue), where it meets the MRT Blue Line; airport buses and metered taxis cover the rest of the city.
Yes. Biman, US-Bangla and Thai Airways fly Bangkok to Dhaka from Suvarnabhumi. If you land at Don Mueang, allow at least four hours to transfer by road and check in again. On separate tickets you clear Thai immigration and collect your bag, so you need a Thai visa. See Bangkok to Dhaka flights.
The JR Haruka limited express runs from the airport to Kyoto, also stopping at Shin-Osaka.

On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On Peach, Thai VietJet Air, Thai AirAsia X and Thai Lion Air, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
