Flying from Singapore to Chiang Rai

Scoot runs the only nonstop flight from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport (CEI) in Thailand's far north. The 2,115 km flight takes about 3 hours 10 minutes. Chiang Rai is the base for trips to the Golden Triangle, and the direct flight saves a connection in Bangkok.
Scoot's TR670 and its five weekly flights
Scoot launched the flight on 1 January 2026. The inaugural TR670 landed in Chiang Rai at 18:50. Scoot flies the route five times a week with the 112-seat Embraer E190-E2, with afternoon departures from Singapore on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays. Chiang Rai became Scoot's seventh Thai destination, alongside Chiang Mai in the north.
The fare includes a cabin bag only. Checked luggage, seats and meals are extras booked online.
Terminal 1 by MRT, taxi or bus
Scoot flies from Terminal 1. By MRT, take the East West Line to Tanah Merah and change for Changi Airport. Taxis from the city take about 30 minutes and cost S$25 to S$45 on the meter, plus surcharges. Public buses 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 and 858 stop in the basement of Terminals 1 to 3.
Taxi counters at Mae Fah Luang airport
Mae Fah Luang Chiang Rai International Airport is about 8 km north of the town centre. One passenger terminal handles domestic and international flights, with immigration on the international side. Taxi counters in the arrival hall sell rides into town of around 15 to 20 minutes; Airports of Thailand notes the fares are slightly higher than taxis outside the airport. Car hire desks are on the first floor, and the Golden Triangle is about an hour away by road. An evening arrival on the afternoon Scoot flight leaves enough time to check in to a town hotel.
Singapore passports get 30 days visa-free
Singapore citizens can stay in Thailand without a visa for up to 30 days under the exemption that took effect on 15 September 2026, which covers 60 countries and territories. The previous 60-day exemption has ended. Other passport holders should check our Thailand visa page.
Every foreign visitor completes the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online before arrival. It opens three days before your travel date at tdac.immigration.go.th.
