Singapore to Chiang Mai flight guide
Singapore to Chiang Mai is a nonstop Scoot flight of about 3 hours and 2,011 km from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to Chiang Mai International Airport (CNX). It takes you straight into northern Thailand, the region of temples, night markets and hill country, with no change of plane in Bangkok.
Scoot is the only carrier on the route. Its basic fare includes a cabin bag, and checked luggage, seats and meals are paid extras. Hikers and anyone shopping in Chiang Mai's markets should add a checked allowance at booking, when it costs less than at the counter.
The MRT reaches Changi Airport station (CG2) via a change at Tanah Merah on the East West Line, or via Expo on the Downtown Line. Taxis from the city take about 30 minutes. Changi has four terminals joined by the Skytrain, so confirm yours on the booking before you set off.
CNX sits just south-west of the old city, so the transfer is short: 15 to 20 minutes by taxi or Grab to most old-city and Nimman hotels.
Airports of Thailand runs flat-fare shuttle vans from Gate 12 of the international terminal. A1 heads to Nimmanhaemin Road, Huay Kaew Road and the moat (40 baht); A2 to Mahidol Road, the Night Bazaar and Chang Khlan Road (40 baht); A3 to Ring Road 2 and the 700th Anniversary Stadium (60 baht). The city's Yellow bus line passes Tha Phae Gate and the Night Bazaar, and the Red line goes via Suan Dok and MAYA mall, both from 6 am to 11:30 pm. Car hire desks are on the first floor.
Anyone who is not a Thai national must complete the Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) at tdac.immigration.go.th within three days before landing. It became compulsory on 1 May 2025, replacing the paper TM6 form, and is not a visa. Visa needs vary by passport; our Thailand visa page explains the options and links to the official e-Visa site.
Chiang Mai is at its best from November to February, when nights are cool and the skies clear. That is also the busiest time, with Yi Peng and Loy Krathong lighting up the city in November. Late February to April often brings smoke haze from field burning. June to October is the rainy season, green and quieter.
Thailand is one hour behind Singapore (UTC+7 against UTC+8) all year, so you gain an hour flying north.
Filing the TDAC early saves time at the desk. Thai embassy guidance says the form opens three days before arrival and that immigration officers will not process an arrival without it. You can file it before a Thai visa has been issued, which helps if a visa application is still in progress.
For the airport run in Singapore, Changi lists the last MRT connection towards the city at 11:18 pm and the first at 5:31 am, so very early Scoot departures usually mean a taxi. Taxi stands at all four terminals run around the clock.
From Chiang Mai, frequent domestic flights and overnight trains run to Bangkok, and buses go north to Chiang Rai and Pai. Many travellers end their trip in Bangkok and fly out of Suvarnabhumi; the Bangkok to Dhaka flights page is one example of the routes from there. If you return to Singapore instead, our Singapore to Dhaka flights page lists another connection from Changi.
Scoot's cheapest seats go first for Songkran in mid-April and the November festivals, so book early for those dates.
