Flying from Singapore to Hat Yai

In short

Scoot runs the only nonstop flight from Singapore Changi Airport (SIN) to Hat Yai International Airport (HDY), the gateway to Songkhla province in southern Thailand. The 737 km flight takes about 1 hour 25 minutes. Hat Yai is the deep south's shopping and street-food city, and the flight is much faster than the long road and rail journey through Malaysia.

E190-E2 jets and a bag for the shopping haul

Scoot switched Hat Yai to its Embraer E190-E2 jets on 7 May 2024 and increased flights from seven to ten a week. It is a low-cost airline, so the fare includes a cabin bag and nothing more. Shoppers should add a checked bag for the return when booking, as it costs less online than at the counter.

Terminal 1 by MRT or public bus

Scoot uses Terminal 1 at Changi, its base since 2019. The free Skytrain connects Terminals 1, 2 and 3. From the city, take the East West Line to Tanah Merah and change for Changi Airport, or use public buses 24, 27, 34, 36, 53, 110 or 858, which stop in the basement of Terminals 1 to 3. A taxi takes about 30 minutes and costs S$25 to S$45 on the meter.

Single terminal and the 60-baht minibus

Hat Yai International Airport is about 12 km south-west of the city centre, and a single terminal serves domestic and international flights. Airports of Thailand lists a 60-baht minibus that runs from 06:00 to 23:30 to Kaset Market, Kim Yong Market, Prince of Songkla University, Central Festival and the bus terminal. The arrival van, signposted at the arrival gates, costs 100 baht and stops at Central Festival, Lee Garden Hat Yai and Kim Yong Market. Taxis and shared minivans take 20 to 30 minutes into town, and minivans run on to Songkhla. Car hire desks are on the first floor.

Singapore citizens: 30 days, no land-entry cap

Singapore citizens are on Thailand's 30-day visa exemption list, in force since 15 September 2026, and they are not limited to two land-border entries a year. Residents of Singapore with other passports should check our Thailand visa page.

All foreign visitors complete the free Thailand Digital Arrival Card online, from three days before travel, at tdac.immigration.go.th.
