Phuket to Guangzhou flight guide
China Southern Airlines and Spring Airlines fly nonstop from Phuket International Airport (HKT) in southern Thailand to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN). The 2,332 km flight takes about 3 hours 25 minutes and serves Chinese holidaymakers returning home and travellers using Guangzhou as a hub for the rest of China.
China Southern is a full-service airline, so its economy fares normally include a checked bag and a meal. Spring Airlines is a low-cost carrier that charges for checked baggage, seat choice and food. Compare the full price once a suitcase is added.
Spring Airlines has been growing in Phuket. In 2026 it also opened a Shenzhen to Phuket route, flying three times a week from 29 April, four a week in July and August and daily from 29 September to 8 October, around China's National Day holiday. That shows how much demand from southern China peaks at holiday times, so book Guangzhou flights early for Chinese New Year and early October.
The airport is at the northern end of the island, a long drive from the southern beaches. AOT lists an Airport Bus Express from Patong Beach between 06:00 and 18:30 and an hourly bus from Phuket Town between 09:15 and 21:15. The Phuket Smart Bus serves the west-coast beaches, including Kata, Karon and Kamala, and minivans and taxis cover the rest. Allow at least an hour from Patong or Kata, more in traffic, and arrive about three hours before an international departure.
Guangzhou Baiyun is north of the city. Metro Line 3 runs from the terminals to Tiyu Xilu and the Tianhe business district in about 45 minutes. China's entry rules vary by passport: some nationalities can enter visa-free or use visa-free transit, while others need a visa in advance, so check with the Chinese embassy that covers your country.
Guangzhou is one hour ahead of Thailand all year (UTC+8 against UTC+7). Travellers from elsewhere in Asia usually reach Phuket through Bangkok (see our Dhaka to Bangkok flights page for one example), and Guangzhou has its own direct links, such as Dhaka to Guangzhou flights.

Most international travellers come via Bangkok and take a domestic flight south, or finish a Thailand trip on the Andaman coast and fly out from Phuket.

What's included
It depends on the airline. Spring Airlines is a low-cost carrier whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On Spring Airlines, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
