Phuket to Taipei flight guide
Tigerair Taiwan flies nonstop from Phuket International Airport (HKT) in southern Thailand to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE), the main airport for Taipei. The 3,076 km flight takes about 4 hours 20 minutes and suits Taiwanese holidaymakers returning home and budget travellers continuing to North-East Asia.
Tigerair Taiwan is the only airline on the route. It is a low-cost airline, so the basic fare covers a cabin bag only; add checked baggage when you book, and pre-order a meal for a flight of over four hours.
The airport is at the northern end of the island. AOT lists an Airport Bus Express from Patong Beach between 06:00 and 18:30 and an hourly bus from Phuket Town between 09:15 and 21:15. The Phuket Smart Bus serves the west coast through Kata, Karon and Kamala, and minivans and taxis cover the rest. Allow at least an hour from Patong or Kata, and arrive about three hours before departure.
Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is about 40 km west of Taipei. The Taoyuan Airport MRT express reaches Taipei Main Station in roughly 35 to 40 minutes. When you fly out again, Taoyuan Metro offers in-town check-in at A1 Taipei Main Station and A3 New Taipei Industrial Park, where you can check bags and get a boarding pass before heading to the airport. Taiwan's entry rules depend on your passport, so check with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office that covers your country before you book.
Taiwan is one hour ahead of Thailand all year (UTC+8 against UTC+7). Travellers from elsewhere usually reach Phuket via Bangkok; see our Dhaka to Bangkok flights page for one example of a connection.
