Phuket to Dubai flight guide
Phuket to Dubai is a nonstop Emirates flight of about 6 hours 40 minutes and 4,927 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Dubai International Airport (DXB). It links Thailand's island beaches with Dubai and Emirates' worldwide network.
Emirates is the only airline on the route and is full-service. Economy normally includes checked baggage, meals and drinks. Connections through Dubai on one ticket stay airside, with bags checked through to Europe, Africa or the Americas.
HKT is at the north of the island, about an hour by road from Patong, Kata and Karon. Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express from Patong via Kathu (departures from Patong 6 am to 6:30 pm) and an hourly airport bus from Phuket Town's old bus station (9:15 am to 9:15 pm). The Phuket Smart Bus serves the west-coast beaches. Late departures need a taxi.
Check in at the international terminal next to the domestic building, and allow about three hours before a long-haul departure.
Emirates uses Terminal 3 at DXB. The Dubai Metro Red Line serves Terminals 1 and 3, and Dubai Airports gives its hours as 5 am to midnight Monday to Thursday and Saturday, 5 am to 1 am on Friday night, and 8 am to midnight on Sunday. Metro passes and Nol cards are sold at ticket offices and machines in the terminal.
Taxis run from every terminal around the clock. Terminal 2, used mainly by flydubai, has no metro station, which matters only if you are connecting there.
Whether you need a visa for the UAE depends on your nationality: some passports get a visit visa on arrival, others must apply ahead. The UAE government portal u.ae lists the visa types and how to apply, and our UAE visa page summarises them. Emirates checks documents at check-in in Phuket.
Dubai is three hours behind Thailand (UTC+4 against UTC+7), and neither country uses daylight saving. An evening flight from Phuket arrives in Dubai the same night.
Phuket's dry season, from about November to April, lines up with Dubai's mild winter, the best time for outdoor sightseeing. From May to September, Dubai is very hot and Phuket is in its rainy season.
If you are staying in Dubai, the metro from Terminal 3 is the cheapest way to Downtown and the Marina, but note it does not run before 8 am on Sundays. Late-night arrivals use a taxi.
On the Phuket side, the last Airport Bus Express leaves Patong at 6:30 pm. For a late flight, book a car from your hotel and allow an hour for the drive.
Airports of Thailand's shuttle can be booked ahead, and the call centre on 1722 handles transport questions. If you hired a car on the island, the return counters are on the first floor of the terminal, close to check-in.
For the reverse trip, Emirates departs from Terminal 3, which has its own Red Line metro station. Before landing in Phuket, non-Thai nationals file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within three days of arrival. Royal Thai Embassy guidance says immigration will not process an arrival without it, and it can be filed before a visa is issued.
Emirates connects Dubai with cities on every inhabited continent. Our Dhaka to Dubai flights page covers one of its South Asian routes, and the Dhaka to Bangkok flights page shows the usual route into Thailand from that region.
