Phuket to Kolkata flight guide
Phuket to Kolkata is a nonstop IndiGo flight of about 2 hours 55 minutes and 1,930 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport (CCU). It is the direct way from Thailand's Andaman coast to eastern India, used by Kolkata holidaymakers flying home and by travellers heading on to the rest of India.
IndiGo is the only airline on the route, and it is low-cost: the basic fare covers a cabin bag, while checked baggage, seat choice and meals are sold separately. Add your bag online at booking. With no competitor on the nonstop, book early for Durga Puja in October and the winter holidays, when Kolkata families travel.
The airport is at the island's northern tip, about an hour by road from Patong, Kata and Karon. Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express from Patong Beach to the airport via Kathu, with departures from Patong between 6 am and 6:30 pm, and an hourly airport bus from Phuket Town's old bus station between 9:15 am and 9:15 pm. The Phuket Smart Bus covers the west-coast beaches from Rawai to Kamala. For early-morning flights, book a taxi or private transfer the day before. If you rented a car, the return desks are on the first floor of the terminal, and the Airports of Thailand call centre on 1722 can help with transport questions.
HKT has separate international and domestic terminals side by side. Check in on the international side, then go through security and Thai emigration.
Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport is at Dum Dum, in the north-east of the city. Prepaid taxis and app cabs run from arrivals to Esplanade, Park Street and Salt Lake; give yourself extra time at the evening rush hour, when the roads into central Kolkata slow right down.
Since 1 October 2025 all international travellers entering India have to submit an e-Arrival Card. It can be filed up to 72 hours before arrival on indianvisaonline.gov.in/earrival or in the Su-Swagatam app. The card does not replace a visa; foreign visitors still need a valid Indian visa or OCI card for their nationality, so arrange that before you book.
Kolkata keeps Indian Standard Time, UTC+5:30, one hour 30 minutes behind Thailand. Neither country uses daylight saving.
Phuket's dry season, from about November to April, lines up with Kolkata's pleasant winter from November to February. Kolkata gets hot and humid from April, and the monsoon arrives around June; Phuket's wet season runs from about May to October.
IndiGo flies on from Kolkata to cities across India. Our Dhaka to Kolkata flights page covers the short hop between the two Bengals. For the route into Thailand from that side, see Dhaka to Bangkok flights.
Whatever the onward flight, your first stop in India is Kolkata immigration and customs. On separate tickets, allow at least three hours to collect bags, clear customs and check in again for a domestic flight.
Thai departure is straightforward, but a few checks help. File India's e-Arrival Card the evening before, within the 72-hour window, so you are not typing passport details at the gate. Keep the confirmation on your phone. If your Indian visa is an e-Visa, keep a copy of the approval with the passport you applied with.
Phuket's markets and malls make it easy to buy more than you planned. Weigh your bag before leaving the hotel, because an overweight IndiGo bag costs much more at the airport than an allowance bought online.
