Phuket to Jeddah flight guide
Phuket to Jeddah is a nonstop Saudia flight of about 8 hours 35 minutes and 6,496 km from Phuket International Airport (HKT) to King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). It is the direct link between Thailand's beaches and Saudi Arabia's Red Sea city, used by Saudi residents returning home and by travellers heading to Makkah for Umrah.
Saudia is the national full-service airline and the only one on this route. Its economy fares normally include a checked bag, meals and drinks, important on a flight of more than eight hours.
HKT is at the northern end of the island, about an hour by taxi from Patong, Kata and Karon. Airports of Thailand lists the Airport Bus Express from Patong via Kathu, with departures from Patong between 6 am and 6:30 pm, and an hourly bus from Phuket Town's old bus station from 9:15 am to 9:15 pm. Evening departures need a taxi or a pre-booked car.
Check in at the international terminal, beside the domestic building, then pass security and Thai emigration. Arrive at least three hours ahead for a long-haul flight with checked bags.
King Abdulaziz International Airport is north of Jeddah. Saudia uses Terminal 1. The Haramain High Speed Railway has a station at the airport. The line serves five stations: Makkah, Al-Sulimaniyah in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport, King Abdullah Economic City and Madinah, so pilgrims can reach both holy cities by train without driving. Timetables are on the railway's website, and seats sell out in the busy seasons, so book once your flight is confirmed.
Taxis and ride-hailing cars serve central Jeddah and the Corniche from the terminal.
Saudi entry rules depend on your passport and on the purpose of your trip, with Umrah treated separately from tourism, and they change from time to time. Check our Saudi Arabia visa page and the official Saudi visa platform before booking.
Saudi Arabia is four hours behind Thailand (UTC+3 against UTC+7), and neither country uses daylight saving. A late-evening departure from Phuket reaches Jeddah after midnight local time.
Phuket is driest from about November to April. Jeddah is hot most of the year and most comfortable from November to February. Demand on the route rises in Ramadan, during the Umrah season and around the Eid holidays.
At more than eight hours, this is a long sector. Pick your seat early, carry a layer for the cabin and keep essential medicines in your hand luggage. If you are going straight on to Umrah, pack your ihram where you can reach it.
Flying back, Saudia leaves from Terminal 1, and the Haramain train is the easiest way to the airport from Makkah or Madinah. Before landing in Phuket, non-Thai nationals file the Thailand Digital Arrival Card online within three days of arrival. Phuket's Airport Bus Express to Patong runs from 8 am to 8 pm, with a taxi counter and pre-bookable shuttles for other times.
Jeddah's other Haramain station, Al-Sulimaniyah, is inside the city, so travellers staying in central Jeddah can also take the train to the airport for an early flight back east.
Saudia flies on from Jeddah across the Kingdom and abroad. Our Dhaka to Jeddah flights page covers one of its busiest South Asian routes, and the Dhaka to Bangkok flights page shows the main way into Thailand from that region.
