Dhaka to Karachi flight guide
Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the only airline flying nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Jinnah International Airport in Karachi (KHI). The 2,354 km trip takes about 3 hours 50 minutes on a Boeing 737-800. Biman restarted the route in January 2026, the first direct link between the two cities since 2012, and it carries family visitors and traders.
For more than a decade, Dhaka to Karachi meant changing planes somewhere in the Gulf. Every seat on the opening flight in January 2026 was sold before it left, and officials on both sides presented the route as a boost for trade and family visits. With one airline and a 162-seat single-aisle jet, seats can run short at busy times, so book as soon as your visa is approved. Economy fares include 30 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg in the cabin.
Jinnah International is on Karachi's eastern edge, between Malir and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. International flights use the East Satellite Concourse of the Jinnah Terminal and domestic flights mostly the West Satellite Concourse, both off the same building. Airblue, PIA, AirSial and Fly Jinnah fly on to Lahore and Islamabad, but Biman does not sell those sectors, so you clear immigration, collect your bags and check in again.
Shahrah-e-Faisal, the city's main road, runs from the airport toward the old centre, and the big hotels on Club Road and Abdullah Haroon Road sit near its far end. Evening traffic on it can be heavy, which is why the airport-side hotels on this page suit a late arrival.
Most foreign nationals need a Pakistani visa, and Pakistan issues many categories online through its official visa portal. Check the rules for your passport, apply before you book, and carry a passport with at least six months left on it. Karachi is on Pakistan Standard Time, UTC+5, one hour behind Dhaka.
Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates direct flights from Dhaka (DAC) to Karachi (KHI). The flight takes about 3h 50m.

General
A Boeing 737-800 with 162 seats. It is a single-aisle jet with economy seats in threes either side of one aisle, so on a trip of nearly four hours an aisle seat is worth choosing at booking if you like to walk about.
Yes, by one hour. Pakistan Standard Time is UTC+5 and Pakistan last tried summer time in 2009. Your arrival in Karachi therefore looks an hour shorter on the ticket than the real time spent in the air.
Economy tickets include 30 kg in the hold and 7 kg in the cabin. Gifts of saris, sweets and tea for relatives fit comfortably within that, but extra weight is charged at the airport, so weigh the cases at home before you leave for Shahjalal.
Yes. Airblue, PIA, AirSial and Fly Jinnah all fly from Karachi to both cities. Biman does not sell these sectors, so you clear Pakistani immigration, collect your bags and check in again on the domestic side. Leave a long gap between the two flights.
Getting there
International services use the East Satellite Concourse of the main Jinnah Terminal, while domestic flights mostly go from the West Satellite Concourse. Both open off the same terminal building, so moving from one to the other for a connection is a walk, not a bus ride.
The two airport-side hotels under Where to stay are around ten minutes and roughly 8 km from the terminal, the second on Shahrah-e-Faisal. Both save you the full drive into the old centre when you only need a bed for the night.
Two of the hotels under Where to stay are on Club Road: one offers an airport shuttle, which makes the first and last journeys easy, and the other has a pool and spa. The Karachi Marriott on Abdullah Haroon Road and Avari Towers, with its rooftop restaurant, are in the same part of town.
Taxis, buses and minibuses run from the airport, and the main route into town is Shahrah-e-Faisal, which leads toward the old centre. Evening traffic on that road can be heavy, so an airport hotel or a pre-booked car from your hotel is often the simpler choice after a long day.
Long-distance trains leave from Karachi Cantonment, the nearest mainline station to the airport. Rail suits travellers heading up-country who prefer it to a domestic flight. Book a seat in advance and check which Karachi station your train actually departs from.
Booking
Yes. The opening flight in January 2026 sold every seat, and with only one airline on the route there is no other nonstop to fall back on at busy times. Book as soon as your visa is approved, and keep the date flexible if family events in Karachi allow it.
