Flying from Dhaka to Beijing

China Southern Airlines is the only airline flying nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Beijing Daxing International Airport (PKX). Its Airbus A321neo covers the 2,997 km in about 4 hours 50 minutes. The Guangzhou-based carrier has run all of its Beijing flights through Daxing since October 2020, so this is the direct option for travellers staying in southern Beijing or connecting on China Southern.
China Southern's A321neo
The A321neo is a single-aisle jet of about 210 seats, so an aisle seat helps on a flight of nearly five hours. Economy tickets include 23 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg in the cabin; extra weight is charged at the counter in Dhaka, which matters on a long work or study stay.
Daxing's starfish terminal south of Beijing
Daxing opened on 25 September 2019 on the boundary with Hebei province, about 46 km south of Beijing. Zaha Hadid Architects designed the terminal with ADPI, a central hub with six curved arms that earned it the nickname the starfish. At about 700,000 m2 it is billed as the largest single-building airport terminal in the world, so follow the signs carefully to immigration. Besides China Southern, Daxing is a hub for China Eastern, Air China, XiamenAir, China United and Beijing Capital Airlines.
Daxing Airport Express to Caoqiao
The Daxing Airport Express metro starts beneath the terminal and runs 41.36 km to Caoqiao on the Southern 3rd Ring Road, with trains at up to 160 km/h and interchanges to subway Lines 10 and 19. A 3.5 km extension north to Lize Shangwuqu was due for completion in 2026. An intercity railway toward Xiong'an leaves from the same station.
Beijing's older airport, Capital, is about 65 km away on the north-east side, and Hainan Airlines and most Star Alliance members still use it. Book hotel pickups to PKX, and leave a very wide gap if you must switch airports.
Visa validity for China
China's visa rules depend on your passport. If you need a visa, apply well before travel, and make sure it has at least six months of validity left. Beijing keeps UTC+8, two hours ahead of Dhaka.
