Dhaka to Hyderabad flight guide
IndiGo is the only airline flying nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad (HYD). Its Airbus A320neo covers the 1,446 km in about 2 hours 45 minutes. IndiGo launched the route in 2022 with medical travellers in mind, and patients heading to Hyderabad's hospitals still fill much of the cabin.
The A320neo is a single all-economy cabin. IndiGo's allowance on this route is 30 kg checked and 7 kg in the cabin, more than it gives on its Delhi and Mumbai flights from Dhaka, which helps when you are carrying medical files and several weeks of clothes. Hyderabad is one of IndiGo's bases, so the same ticket can take you on to many other Indian cities, earning points in its BluChip programme.
The airport opened in March 2008 at Shamshabad, about 24 km south of the city, and replaced Begumpet for airline traffic. It has one integrated terminal, with international flights on the western side and domestic on the eastern, so a connection never means changing buildings. Extensions in 2023 and 2024 lifted its capacity to 40 million passengers a year.
No metro reaches the airport yet. Take an app cab or prepaid taxi along the PV Narasimha Rao Expressway, or the Pushpak airport bus run by the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation. Several hotels on this page are in HITEC City and Gachibowli, the IT district in the west of the city, where the metro Blue Line runs once you are in town.
Most foreign nationals need an Indian visa before boarding, and the Government of India's visa portal lists the categories by passport. India reopened tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens in June 2026, and medical visas stayed available through the earlier suspension. Patients should apply in the medical category with the hospital's appointment letter, and Bangladeshi applicants do so through the Indian visa centres in Bangladesh.
Hyderabad runs on India Standard Time, half an hour behind Dhaka, which matters for hospital appointment letters.

Getting there
Yes. Rajiv Gandhi International has a single integrated terminal, with international flights on the western side and domestic on the eastern, so you change planes without leaving the building or taking a bus.
Not commercial airline flights. Shamshabad replaced Begumpet as Hyderabad's airport in March 2008, so whatever an older relative remembers, your IndiGo flight lands at RGIA.
Not yet. An earlier plan for a line from Raidurg was scrapped, and a new proposal is still waiting for central government approval. For now the airport is reached by road.
Yes. The Blue Line runs to HITEC City and on to Raidurg, which helps if your hotel is in the IT district. The whole network is about 67.2 km across three lines, so you can reach most central areas by train after the road trip in.
Yes, through BluChip, its frequent flyer programme. Repeat visits for treatment and follow-up add up, so register before the first trip and give the number at booking.
Yes. The terminal was extended east in November 2023 and west in September 2024, lifting capacity to 40 million passengers a year. Traffic was just over 29 million in the year to March 2025, well inside that limit.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited, a public-private company in which GMR Group holds 74%. It has run the airport since it opened in 2008.
It has appeared in AirHelp's world top 10 and was the first airport in India to introduce e-boarding for domestic flights, back in December 2015.
General
Add 30 minutes. Hyderabad keeps India Standard Time, UTC+5:30, against Dhaka's UTC+6:00, so the same rule works in every season.
Yes. It is one of the airline's bases, which is why a Dhaka passenger can continue on IndiGo to many other Indian cities from the same terminal on one ticket.
