Dhaka to Muscat flight guide
Several airlines fly nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Muscat International Airport (MCT): Oman Air, SalamAir, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines. The 3,262 km flight takes about 5 hours 5 minutes. Oman is one of the bigger destinations for Bangladeshi workers, and this route carries many of them to their jobs.
Biman's Boeing 777-300ER is the largest aircraft on the route, with 419 seats. SalamAir, Oman's first budget airline, flies an Airbus A321neo of about 210 seats and includes 20 kg checked on its standard fare. Oman Air, the national carrier, uses a Boeing 737-800 of about 162 seats. Oman Air, Biman and US-Bangla all include 30 kg checked, and every airline allows 7 kg in the cabin. On peak dates the smaller single-aisle flights sell out sooner.
Muscat is home base for both Oman Air and SalamAir, so either can sell a single ticket from Dhaka to other cities on its network. US-Bangla also links Muscat with Chattogram and Sylhet, and SalamAir with Chattogram, which saves workers from those regions a trip to the capital.
Workers travel on a visa arranged by their sponsor in Oman. At check-in in Dhaka, staff ask to see the visa copy and the BMET emigration clearance card that Bangladeshi workers need before they print a boarding pass, so keep both in your hand luggage. Visitors check Oman's eVisa rules for their own nationality.
Muscat International is at Seeb, about 32 km from the old city. Its terminal opened on 18 March 2018, so anyone who last flew to Oman before then will find a different building. Mwasalat buses run from the airport around the clock, with route A1 going to Ruwi bus station, and metered taxis are booked at counters in the arrivals hall.
The hotels on this page range from Al Matar, a few minutes from the terminal, to beach hotels at Shatti Al Qurum and Al Bustan. Oman keeps UTC+4, two hours behind Dhaka.
Four airlines operate direct flights from Dhaka (DAC) to Muscat (MCT). The flight takes about 5h 05m.

Timing & weather
Yes. US-Bangla links Muscat with both Chattogram and Sylhet, and SalamAir also flies from Chattogram. Workers from those regions can skip the journey to the capital and the extra night it often involves.
Getting there
Biman's Boeing 777-300ER, with 419 seats. SalamAir's Airbus A321neo holds about 210 and Oman Air's Boeing 737-800 about 162. On peak dates the smaller single-aisle aircraft have fewer seats to go round, so they can sell out sooner.
Two of the hotels under Where to stay are in Al Matar, Seeb, a few minutes from the terminal. Both suit a night's rest before a long drive or an onward connection.
One of the hotels under Where to stay is in Ruwi, close to the bus station, which makes it handy for travellers using the airport bus or taking coaches to other parts of Oman.
Prices & payment
SalamAir is Oman's first budget airline. The trade-off is luggage: its standard fare includes 20 kg checked, against 30 kg on Oman Air, Biman and US-Bangla. Price the extra weight before assuming the low fare is the better deal.
Yes. The budget hotel in Ghala under Where to stay offers simple rooms close to the airport. It works for a short stopover or for visitors waiting a day before heading on to their sponsor's town.
Booking
