Dhaka to Jeddah flight guide
A number of airlines fly nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah (JED): Saudia, Biman Bangladesh Airlines and US-Bangla Airlines. The 5,231 km flight takes about 7 hours. Two groups fill most seats: workers starting or returning to jobs in Saudi Arabia, and Umrah pilgrims going on to Makkah, about 65 km away.
Saudia and Biman both fly the Boeing 777-300ER. Some Saudia 777s carry a first-class cabin as well as business, while Biman's has business and economy. US-Bangla joined the route in August 2024, the first private Bangladeshi airline to serve Jeddah, with an all-economy Airbus A330-300. Baggage differs: Saudia includes 23 kg checked on this route, Biman and US-Bangla 30 kg, all with 7 kg in the cabin.
Jeddah is Saudia's largest hub, and the airline also runs hubs at Madinah, Dammam and Riyadh, so one ticket can take a worker posted elsewhere in the kingdom straight on. Saudia has been a SkyTeam member since May 2012.
Every passenger needs a Saudi visa issued before departure, whether a work visa, a tourist visa or an Umrah visa, and a passport valid for at least six months. Eligibility for Saudi tourist e-visas varies by nationality, so check the official Saudi visa platform for your passport.
King Abdulaziz International lies about 19 km north of Jeddah. Saudia's international flights have used the new Terminal 1 since August 2019; the North Terminal handles mainly foreign airlines, so Biman and US-Bangla passengers should check their booking. During Hajj season, pilgrim flights use the separate Hajj Terminal, whose tent roof won the Aga Khan Award for Architecture in 1983.
From Terminal 1, the Haramain high-speed railway's airport station has trains to Makkah and Madinah, an easy alternative to the road. Summer afternoons in Jeddah often top 40 C, so pilgrims travelling between June and September should plan walking for the cooler hours.
Three airlines operate direct flights from Dhaka (DAC) to Jeddah (JED). The flight takes about 7h 35m.

No. US-Bangla flies an all-economy Airbus A330-300 to Jeddah, so anyone wanting a flatter seat should look at Saudia or Biman, whose 777s carry premium cabins.
About 65 km. Pilgrims usually cover it straight from the airport by road or rail, but workers and visitors staying in Jeddah can make the trip in an easy morning.
Yes. It belongs to the Saudia Group, which the Saudi government owns, and it has been flying since it was founded in 1945. Jeddah is the largest of its hubs.
