Dhaka to Delhi flight guide
Various airlines fly nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi (DEL): Air India, IndiGo and Biman Bangladesh Airlines. The 1,425 km flight takes about 2 hours 45 minutes, and the route serves patients travelling for treatment, business travellers and, since India reopened tourist visas for Bangladeshi citizens on 28 June 2026, holidaymakers again.
All of them fly single-aisle jets. Biman uses a Boeing 737-800 with 12 business seats and includes 30 kg of checked baggage. Air India flies the Airbus A320neo or A320 with 25 kg, and Delhi is its main hub, which makes one ticket to another Indian city simple. IndiGo's A321neo and A320neo are all economy and include only 15 kg, so price the extra weight before you choose on fare alone.
Most foreign nationals need an Indian visa before departure; check the categories open to your passport on the Government of India's official visa portal. For Bangladeshi citizens, applications go through the Indian Visa Application Centres in Dhaka, Chattogram, Rajshahi, Sylhet and Khulna. Medical visas kept being issued through the 2024 to 2026 suspension of tourist visas, so patients should apply under that category and carry hospital papers in their hand luggage.
International flights arrive at Terminal 3, about 16 km from the city centre. Opened in July 2010, it is one of the largest single terminal buildings in the world, so book a wheelchair at the time of booking for anyone who struggles with long walks. Many IndiGo domestic departures leave from Terminal 1, a separate building, so leave time for the transfer if you are flying on.
The Airport Express metro leaves from Terminal 3 and reaches New Delhi railway station in about 15 minutes, with stops at Delhi Aerocity, Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium. It suits anyone continuing by train, and in the other direction it runs on to Yashobhoomi in Dwarka.
Delhi winters bring fog. Three of the airport's runways have CAT III-B landing systems, but December and January flights can still be delayed, so allow slack in any onward plans.
Three airlines operate direct flights from Dhaka (DAC) to Delhi (DEL). The flight takes about 2h 45m.

Cancellations & changes
Quite possibly. Flights from Dhaka arrive at Terminal 3, but IndiGo runs many of its domestic departures from Terminal 1, which it shares with SpiceJet. Check the terminal on your onward boarding pass and leave time for the transfer between buildings.
Getting there
About 15 minutes. The line has 7 stations, with Delhi Aerocity, Dhaula Kuan and Shivaji Stadium between the airport and New Delhi, and trains run at up to 120 km/h, so traffic on the airport road does not touch you.
Fog can still cause delays in winter, but the airport is better equipped than most. Three of its runways have CAT III-B landing systems, one of only three airports in India with them, put in after severe fog disruption in 2005.
It is. Delhi ranked 9th in the world in 2025 and handled 78,701,971 passengers in the year to March 2026. Allow extra time at immigration, especially when several long-haul flights land together.
Yes. The Airport Express was extended to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector 25 in September 2023, so anyone heading to Yashobhoomi can ride straight there from the airport without going into central Delhi.
General
Not for an international flight. In-town check-in on the Airport Express was stopped for international departures after COVID, so you will need to take your luggage all the way to Terminal 3.
Yes, by half an hour. India Standard Time is UTC+5:30, thirty minutes behind Dhaka in every season. Check-in deadlines on the way home are always in Delhi time.
Yes. Delhi is Air India's main hub, so its network of domestic and international flights fans out from Terminal 3. That makes it the simplest choice if you want one ticket from Dhaka on to another Indian city.
Biman's Boeing 737-800 has 12 business seats ahead of 150 in economy. IndiGo's A320neo and A321neo are all-economy. If a wider seat matters for a patient travelling for treatment, compare Biman and Air India before booking.
Booking
Yes, if anyone in your group finds long walks hard. Opened in July 2010, it covers about 594,579 m2 and ranks among the largest single terminals in the world. Walks from the gate to immigration can be long, so ask for a wheelchair at booking if anyone in your group needs one.
