Dhaka to Cairo flight guide
EgyptAir is the only airline flying nonstop from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka (DAC) to Cairo International Airport (CAI). Its Boeing 787-9 covers the 5,824 km in about 8 hours 40 minutes westbound, and it is the one direct link between Bangladesh and Egypt, used by students at Al-Azhar University, their families and sightseers bound for Giza.
EgyptAir lists 30 business seats and 279 in economy on its 787-9, with 23 kg of checked baggage and 7 kg in the cabin. The flight home is more than an hour shorter, because the winds that slow the outbound leg push the return along. EgyptAir has been a Star Alliance member since 2008, so miles can go to its own Egyptair Plus scheme or a partner programme.
Without this nonstop, most itineraries between the two countries connect through a Gulf hub, so the direct flight saves a change of plane and a long wait.
Cairo International is in Heliopolis, about 15 km north-east of the business district, and EgyptAir runs all its flights from Terminal 3. A bridge links Terminal 3 with Terminal 2, and shuttle buses connect every terminal with the airport bus station. Domestic EgyptAir flights to Alexandria or Sharm El Sheikh leave from the same building.
For the ride into town, insist on the meter in a white taxi or book a ride-hailing car. Downtown and Garden City suit sightseeing on foot. Giza puts you opposite the pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum, which opened officially on 1 November 2025, but a long way from the rest of the city.
Egypt's visa rules vary by nationality: some passports qualify for an e-Visa or a visa on arrival, others need a visa from an Egyptian embassy before travel. Check your own case with the Egyptian embassy or the official Egypt e-Visa portal before booking, and carry a passport valid for at least six months.

Our travel team answers questions about Dhaka to Cairo flights
General
Yes, since July 2008. Its own programme is Egyptair Plus, and the long Dhaka sector can also be credited to another Star Alliance scheme if you already collect miles with a partner airline.
Yes. A bridge links the two buildings, and a shuttle bus also runs between all the terminals and the airport bus station. That helps if a separate onward flight leaves from Terminal 2.
It was founded on 7 June 1932 as Misr Airlines, at the time only the seventh airline in the world. It remains wholly owned by the Egyptian state and runs its network from Cairo.
Yes. Both are EgyptAir focus cities, and the airline runs its domestic flights from the same Terminal 3, so a through ticket from Dhaka keeps the connection under one roof.
Booking
EgyptAir lists 30 business seats and 279 in economy on the type. For a flight of this length, business is a real option for older relatives travelling to visit students, though the cabin is not large.
Cancellations & changes
It depends on the season. Egypt brought back summer time in 2023, so Cairo is four hours behind Dhaka in winter and three hours behind from the last Friday of April to the last Thursday of October. Bangladesh does not change its clocks.
Prices & payment
Public buses leave from the Cairo Airport Bus Terminal for Tahrir Square and Abbasia. Take the terminal shuttle to reach it. With heavy luggage after a long flight, most people still prefer a taxi or ride-hailing car.
Getting there
It is. Cairo handled 30,944,269 passengers in 2025, more than any other airport on the continent. Terminal 3 is the largest of its buildings and carries much of that traffic.
A separate building with 7 gates, opened in 2011 for pilgrim traffic. Your EgyptAir flight to or from Dhaka uses Terminal 3, so do not let a driver drop you at the seasonal terminal by mistake.
It is. Terminal 1 opened in 1963 and is the oldest building still in service. You are unlikely to need it on this route, because EgyptAir moved all its flights to Terminal 3.
