Bangkok to Guangzhou flight guide
Several airlines fly nonstop from Bangkok to Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport (CAN) in southern China. Six leave from Suvarnabhumi (BKK) and Thai AirAsia from Don Mueang (DMK). The 1,705 km flight takes about 2 hours 40 minutes. Guangzhou is a trading city, and the route carries buyers heading for the Canton Fair and the wholesale markets, as well as tourists and travellers connecting deeper into China.
China Southern Airlines, whose main hub is Baiyun Terminal 2, flies the route alongside China Eastern Airlines, Thai Airways International and Kenya Airways, which carries passengers on its way between Nairobi and Guangzhou. 9 Air, which also uses Guangzhou as its hub, and Spring Airlines are the Chinese low-cost options from Suvarnabhumi; Thai AirAsia flies from Don Mueang.
9 Air, Spring Airlines and Thai AirAsia charge for checked bags, while the full-service airlines include one. Traders carrying samples back usually find the full-service fare cheaper once a heavy bag is priced in.
Suvarnabhumi lies about 25 km east of central Bangkok and is reached by the Airport Rail Link from Phaya Thai in about 27 minutes. Don Mueang is north of the city and served by the SRT Dark Red Line. Check which airport your ticket names, because the two are far apart.
Baiyun opened on 5 August 2004 about 28 km north of downtown Guangzhou, and it handled 83.6 million passengers in 2025. Terminal 3 opened on 30 October 2025. Terminal 1 closed for renovation on 7 May 2026, and its flights moved to Terminals 2 and 3, so check the building on your booking. Metro Line 3 runs from the terminals to Tiyu Xilu and the Tianhe business district in about 45 minutes, and taxis and ride-hailing cars are easy to find.
The Canton Fair runs each spring and autumn. Flights and hotels near the fair grounds fill up early around those dates, so book both as soon as the dates are published.
Chinese entry rules depend on nationality and change from time to time. Confirm yours with the Chinese embassy or the official visa site before booking.
Travellers from Dhaka can fly into Suvarnabhumi on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways (see Dhaka to Bangkok flights) and pick up six of the seven Guangzhou flights at the same airport. A Don Mueang connection needs at least four hours. Dhaka also has its own flights: see Dhaka to Guangzhou flights.
China is one hour ahead of Thailand, and neither country uses daylight saving.

Getting there
From Suvarnabhumi, several airlines fly the route; from Don Mueang, Bangkok's low-cost airport, it is Thai AirAsia. Schedules change by season, so check the flights for your dates in the search above.
About 2 hours 40 minutes in the air. The two airports are 1,705 km apart in a straight line; actual times vary a little by airline, aircraft and wind.
Both. Multiple airlines use Suvarnabhumi (BKK); Thai AirAsia uses Don Mueang (DMK). The airports are on opposite sides of the city, so check the code on your ticket.
Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport is north of the city. Metro Line 3 runs from the terminals to Tiyu Xilu and the Tianhe business district in about 45 minutes.
Yes, Guangzhou also has its own flights from Dhaka; see Dhaka to Guangzhou flights. Flying via Bangkok makes sense when you want a stopover in Thailand on the way.

General
The clock moves one hour forward from Thai time (Thailand is UTC+7). Neither side uses daylight saving, so the gap stays the same all year.
That depends on your nationality, and the rules change from time to time. Confirm with the Chinese embassy or the official visa site before you book.
Yes. Fly Dhaka to Bangkok on Biman, US-Bangla or Thai Airways, all of which land at Suvarnabhumi, then take one of the Guangzhou flights. Booking both legs on one Thai Airways ticket, where available, keeps you airside with your bag checked through. Two separate tickets mean clearing Thai immigration, which needs a Thai visa.
Terminal 2 or Terminal 3. Terminal 1 closed for renovation on 7 May 2026 and its flights moved to the other two buildings. China Southern's hub is Terminal 2, so check the terminal printed on your booking.
What's included
It depends on the airline. 9 Air, Spring Airlines and Thai AirAsia are low-cost carriers whose basic fares include only a cabin bag, so add checked baggage when you book. The full-service airlines normally include a checked bag; the allowance is shown on your booking.
Stay & facilities
On the full-service airlines, request a Muslim (halal) meal when you book or at least 24 hours before departure through the airline's manage-booking page. On 9 Air, Spring Airlines and Thai AirAsia, meals are bought online or on board; check the menu for halal options.
